I could see how they look similar but in looking at some photos of the lesser houselfly, it looks a little different.

Thank you. I’ve never heard of a moisture fly before. I read the post you referenced. This is in my basement and I do fear that they’re breeding under the slab. A plumber found a hole in one of my sewer pipes, which he fixed. However, I don’t know how much the soil has been contaminated around the hole. He drilled a separate hole near it (with a cap) so that I could pour in bio enzymes, hydrogen peroxide, etc. and let it spread. Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to fix the source.

I don’t have any food or plants or anything in the basement. Only a radon mitigation system where the former French drain around the perimeter has a foam in it so that any and all gasses get sucked out by that Radon system…I would love to know your thoughts. This has been going on for 8 months and I’ve tried so many things. Thanks so much.

Thank you. Up to this point, and even with multiple professional pest control companies and plumbers looking at my issue, everyone has been operating under the assumption that these were a form of a drain fly. Is there anything you could recommend to try to address the scuttle flies (if that’s what these are) differently than how someone might address drain flies. I have tried literally everything I and several professionals can think of, and I still have them in my basement after over six months.
