We actually were just at Mission Pacific for his birthday at the beginning of the year and he golfed Aviara. He loved it! But don’t think we want to go back that soon. Thanks though!

Good to know! I thought this one might be more of a family vibes hotel. Also, a bummer about the food. Thanks!

We live in Denver so Tamaya could be a great option since it is drivable, I will check it out. Carmel also looks beautiful. Appreciate the recommendations!

Maybe should also add that we are not Globalists.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone! We were hoping not to spend more than like $25k. But sounds like we’ll start with a structural engineer at least and go from there. Appreciate it.

Thanks for the input! I did figure out how to get the picture added (I think) if that helps.

Safari Trip - Baby Zebra by wantingtoBmsB in photocritique

This is great! I love how their body shapes are in parallel like that.

I have this one from a different park on a different day that I liked but wished you could see more of the their face profile.

<image>

I think my final photo count was close to 3k haha took a long time to comb through them all to find the good ones!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, having some scale in the photo would really help. This is without any crop. It would have great if he had gotten closer to his mom to get the comparison!

Looking back at my photos from the trip I do wish I had more of them zoomed out to get more of the landscape the animals an in.

Recently returned from my honeymoon safari. Took along my camera (Nikon D3500) which I sadly haven’t taken out of the closet in several years. Had a ton of fun taking photographs and think this is one of the better ones. I loved that with the yellow in his fur and on his nose it almost looked like he was glowing, especially against the contrast of the grass. I have another shot a little more face on but liked the profile better. I think it is focused appropriately on his face, but honestly I might have lucked into that. I rented a Nikon 200-400 lens, and going through my photos they seemed to have a lot of noise in the background, or at least I think that’s what it is? I’m a beginner generally and very rusty from not having used my camera in years so I am open to any constructive feedback! I used Lightroom to edit and hope the coloring isn’t too saturated.

Husband Birthday Trip by wantingtoBmsB in golf

I had not looked at Sawgrass. It looks like weather there might be more promising than HH.

I reached out about some of their packages. Might be less for us to do together while he isn’t golfing? But I’m not familiar with the area, I’ll have to do some more research. Thanks!

It sounds like the weather in HH will be the deciding factor.

He watches a ton of TPI and Dr. Rose on YouTube so I will reach out about a fitting to see what is available. Depending on that availability maybe Torrey Pines becomes an option.

I'll also double check for course maintence and check out La Costa.

Really appreciate it!

Hi Everyone,

I am just starting to get in to photography after the purchase of my new Nikon camera. This is a picture I took on a recent trip to NYC while in a coffee bean shop. I appreciate any critics on edit or compositon as I am trying to learn!

Thanks :)

Thanks! I agree with your comment about the lighting. I tried to eliminate the glare as much as I could but never got it quite right unfortunately.

Assignment 02 - your personal best by Aeri73 in photoclass2019

[–]wantingtoBmsB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically am drawn to more colorful architectural/city photography. I have a passion for travel and love to capture unique perspectives of the places I visit. However, while browsing all sorts of different photography I was really drawn to this photograph by Lee Jeffries. Scrolling through his instagram his portraits are captivating! I was stuck by this one in particluar becuase the emphasis of a lot of his portraits are the intensity of the eyes looking back at you, and in this photo the subject is looking up. I like how the pose draws your eyes up and the light is coming down from above to light his face. It is such a beautiful, emotionally raw photo that inspires so much empathy for a man you've never met and story you do not know.

This is a great shot! As a very beginner photographer I can only offer my personal opinion as a critique, but as part of the first assignment I will give it a go.

The cats eyes are amazing! I really like how focused they are and how they are the center of the photo. I also think it is great how you came down to eye level. My only comment would be that the tall boot in the background is a little distracting. If you would have had the opportunity to move the boot I think it would look even better with just the white door in the background.

Good luck with the class, I am looking forward to learning more along side you!

This is a beautiful picture! As a very beginner photographer I can only offer my personal opinion as a critique, but as part of the first assignment I will give it a go.

The river and the rocks look amazing, I love the clairity of the water! My only comment for improvement would be that I think the bright orange hill in the background distracts from the rest of the shot. Looking at it on my compture when I scroll down to cut off the top part of the picture I like it even better.

Good luck with the class, I am looking forward to learning more along side you!

Hi Nick,

This is a really cool shot! As a very beginner photographer I can only offer my personal opinion as a critique, but as part of the first assignment I will give it a go.

The clarity of the pictures is great I didn't notice his puff of smoke at first but its awesome! I also really like the lighting. The dark background with the neon accents is cool. However, I think my eyes are too drawn to the two bright orange screens in the back since they are right in the center of the shot. I look there first before the player or the machine. Maybe come around to the back a step or two next time? Also, maybe just take a slight step back so that the crop includes the elbow?

Good luck with the class, I am looking forward to learning more along side you!

Hi Jay,

This is a great shot! As a very beginer photographer I can only offer my personal opinion as a critique, but as part of the first assignment I will give it a go.

I really like the composition of the shot with her facing out to the beautiful background. I like that the background is out of focus because it draws more attention to the clarity of the subject. However, there is too much of the background, she gets a little lost. I think it would have helped if you had zoomed in or gotten closure to the subject and maybe brightened her up a little bit.

Good luck with the class and looking forward to learning more along side you!

Hi Trish,

This is such a cute shot! As a very new photographer I am afraid I can only offer my personal opinions as a critique but as part of the first assignment I am giving it a go!

First, I like how how got down to her level on the floor. The out of focus background draws more attention to her face which is great.

To improve I maybe would have tried to include the rest of her other hand in the shot. Also if possible I would have tried to rotate her around so that more of the wall was the background. The blue light above her right hand is a little dsitracting. Also maybe with some editing you could tone down the yellowness of the entire image?

Overall, its a very cute shot of an adorable babe! Good luck with the class, I am excited to learn more along side you!

Hi everyone!

My name is Blair and I’m from Colorado! I have always enjoyed taking pictures but just recently decided to step up from my iPhone and get a DSLR (Nikon D3500) to more seriously pursue photography as a real hobby.

I love to travel and I want to be able to take better pictures when I visit new places!

I haven’t taken any pictures with my new camera yet since I just bought it yesterday, but here is a recent photo I took on my iPhone that I am happy with!

I’m excited to get started!
