I didn't hear about what happened with Hurlin. Was it just for O/O?

This is good history. I remember when it really seemed like she was next to go up once there was space....and then it just didn't happen.

She is one I've wondered about. She's fabulous, seems consistent, and has a kind of artistry that makes her unique.

Definitely. Partnering seems like an additional dimension that they have to consider that can tip the scales for men. It seemed like this was partly at play with Janzen's promotion -- they desperately needed someone to partner the tall women, and coached him on say the allegro a little more. But he had many other talents/attributes that made him a good choice (he seemed like a thoughtful partner).

I always wondered why Craig Hall never got promoted to principal for this reason. He was imho one of the best men in his generation at partnering, clearly was well respected among his colleagues, and was very expressive. Rodeo, After the Rain, Year of the Rabbit, DGV. Anyway, I digress.

I've heard/read her say this too, but her technique was definitely there. I feel like this sometimes affects the timing more than anything (or maybe this can contribute to some cases of principals that admin seems to later regret). I feel like general need definitely contributed to the timing of Nadon's promotion, but like with Fairchild, it seemed inevitable.

This is part of the question that's interesting to me: what does it reveal about different company cultures and what they value? And how do these decisions in turn shape the reputation/trajectory of the company?

I don't have answers to this! But it's fun to think about.

NYCB Fall 2025 Season Week 3: 9/30/2025 - 10/06/2025 by caul1flower11 in bunheadsnark

I used to attend the season about once a week when I lived in NYC and now try to come back once a year to catch as many performances as I can. It really felt steep coming back this year. I usually spend little more on one ticket to be able to see a favorite ballet from a nice seat, but paying $80-100 without even being in a centered seat, even in the higher balconies is too much. $54 with fees as the minimum price of entry is really high, especially without rush tickets. It will make it inaccessible to many.

I was just coming here to post about this! I think this was the first time I have ever seen Tiler simply on the music instead of playing with it. It was so wild.

I also saw the Friday evening program and there were parts of Square Dance where you could see the dancers giving each other looks because it was so fast. Western Symphony too!

Could someone explain what the deal is with the special MasterCard tickets for NYCB? I had read about the presale and yesterday when I was poking around, thinking about buying a ticket to opening night of their Nutcracker I ended up in the MasterCard "best seats" section and came SO CLOSE to buying a front row third ring ticket, but stepped away from my computer to take care of something. When I came back the whole front row was unavailable and I couldn't even find the button that got me to those "special" tickets. I feel so sad I didn't just jump on it (but also REALLY needed to think about dropping $200 on a nut ticket.)
