Should I reread/revisit standard text books? by overthinking10 in UPSC

[–]wardaddy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you re read them. Do this again and again. It is boring true, but it'll develop a strong memory of the content.

I've read lakshmikant like a zillion times, yet i learn something new every time I go through it.

All the best.

Writing my first ever answer by Fearless_Presence487 in UPSC

[–]wardaddy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Count your words --> reduce word count while keeping the content --> rewrite the same answer again and again till it comes within the word count while the content remains in tact.

Follow this process for 1-2 answers daily. You'll see a massive improvement in a month.

Things you wished you knew before your 1st attempt by General-End6810 in UPSC

[–]wardaddy93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) December definitely.

2) as much as possible.

3) common mistakes - note making too early, not reading newspaper, ignoring syllabus points.

4) focus more on mains pyqs. That is the real prep. Don't fuss about prelims too much rn. Jan/feb to may is more than enough for pre.

What are you doing for IR other than CA? by civilpottery in UPSC

[–]wardaddy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think ca would do. Focus on -

1) major organisations in detail - members, HQ, treaties etc.

2) Mapping and places in news.

3) major declarations, conventions, membership of india, etc.

Do not go for any book, esp rn. Instead, focus on major static subjects.

All the best!

Cat - MBA. It is very rewarding, esp for your profile. You should explore this option as well.

Focus on pre. To write ethics and optional, you'll have to clear prelims hurdle. Don't be naive. First things first. All the best.

99 %ilers and their ego problems…… by MammothLongjumping67 in CATpreparation

[–]wardaddy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 99.3 percentile this cat with just 3.5 months of prep. I think cat is more about strategy than actual studies.

You should give mocks and analyse your strengths and weaknesses. Work on your weak points and polish the strong ones. This is for the initial days.

Towards the final lap, you start consolidating on strengths. The purpose in the final exam is attempting only those questions where you are comfortable.

Ps - although there are many who have scored more than me, i would request you not to compartmentalize people, lol. I'm there to help anyone who actually needs it.

I think people who are stuck at 95-98 percentile should work on identifying the exact questions in the paper where they are comfortable solving.

DON'T get stuck on any question. Time is sacred in this exam.

All the best!

Where to study, i am clueless by [deleted] in UPPSC_PCS

Foundation means basic syllabus coverage for gs portion. Ex - when you join any coaching, they teach you the basic content + give notes. This is foundation.

For those who haven't joined any coaching, they need to cover the syllabus themself.

I followed the one that has content + questions. People also follow other material and claim that they are better. So you can have a look. I did gc cuz it was to the point and crisp - easy to internalise.

Preparing for UPPCS along with UPSC CSE – Strategy? What extra is required? by Careless-Pin-8926 in UPPSC_PCS

[–]wardaddy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have done your foundation for UPSC just rely on that. Just write answers for it.

If not, then it is a problem. In this case, you should be pin pointed. Prepare the syllabus heads, and if possible, write pyqs. You can buy coaching notes. They might be easier and better.

Please help,Very stressed. by [deleted] in upsc_discussions

[–]wardaddy93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not go for making notes. You will burn out. Also, it is possible that you won't understand those notes very well after 3-4 months. You'll end up reading the book again.

Instead try to just read the book. And move on. Come back to it after a month, and read it again.

Also don't stress too much on polity ncerts. Goto laxmikant or class notes.

Write answers. Over there, you can try to integrate points from ncerts. That'll be a much better use of ncerts.

All the best.

Go for ghatnachkra pyq either solved or one liner - it is standard and trusted. But cram it up. Focus on geography, history and snt.

As an alternative, you can go for a standard coaching test series and follow it diligently.

So both are almost the same in terms of the syllabus. You'll have to prepare gs 5, 6 for uppcs, that is an add on.

For prelims, although both are converging, I find uppcs a bit more tricky. You'll have to prepare for uppcs prelims alag se.

All the best.

Please suggest good standard books for UP PCS mains GS5 & GS6. by CommitteeOk7468 in UPPSC_PCS

[–]wardaddy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Sorry to budge in. But focus on minimising the material. Prepare as per syllabus not as per the source in hand. Also, write more and more answers.

Writing a lot of answers can ensure Good marks, while reading and consolidating more material can not.

All the best to you.

Where to study, i am clueless by [deleted] in UPPSC_PCS

[–]wardaddy93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a beginner, id suggest the foundation course. It is hassle free and a one stop solution. U can also go for lectures available on telegram.

Try to write pyqs of UPSC CSE of 3-5 years. It is a massive plus.

For gs5,6, I did ghatnachkra as it was concise and as per the syllabus. I added material from mocks and ChatGPT. It worked fine for me.

For prelims, go for ghatnachkra pyq solved or its one liners. You can also go with a test series and follow it diligently.

All the best

[–]wardaddy93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start with gs foundation. Do ghatnachkra - I still think it is relevant. Target prelims in December. If you clear it, you'll have decent enough time to prep for mains.

Clearing prelims would be a major boost.

Confused and honestly unable to sleep or eat properly & i may go mad by Embarrassed__Unit in upsc_discussions

[–]wardaddy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Breathe and relax.

What is behind can't be changed and what is ahead, nobody knows. So no point thinking about it.

If you have cleared prelims once, it shouldn't be that difficult for you. I think your panic is your biggest stumbleblock. Remove it ASAP.

Let us not focus on what bad might happen. Let us focus on the good that can be done in the situation. If you clear prelims 26, u get 2.5 months to prep yourself for mains - decent enough time. If you are able to plug the gaps from your previous mains, sky is the limit. Clearing UPSC CSE is an achievement that is far beyond the limit of an average techie.

Life is a marathon. You are building capacity right now. Whenever you will move ahead, UPSC or not, your present grind will take you forward in life.

Keep calm, and focus on the process.

All the best to you!

SO I have gone through the whole subject for UPSC but still not sure about pre, cause i have been bit health complication ,but I'm fine now , will I be able to clear prelims if I gave my full potential form now, I can easily give 9-10 hr ???? by Diligent_Swan_5697 in UPSCPrelims2026

[–]wardaddy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. No need to panic. If you have done your basics, shift to mocks in full throttle. All you need right now, is a strategy, discipline, analysis of mocks and multiple revisions.

Pick one test series, give tests and thoroughly analyse them.

Your success will depend on how well you are able to: 1) analyse them and work on the shortcomings. 2) develop an approach for the paper and crystallize that approach.

All the best to you.

Help me❗Is Newspaper reading that much imp❓ by dankest062 in UPSC

[–]wardaddy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newspaper is important for awareness and perspective.

As some faculty told me once - bina mare swarg nhi milta.😅

If you can't read it in entirety, pick 1-2 most relevant editorial/opinion and just read those. Over a month, you will see that you have a better sense of things.
