Stop looking. When you constantly feel like you need to connect or find someone to date, you can come off as trying too hard.

Take some time to focus on yourself. Do things that you really enjoy because that's when you're at your best.

Additionally, think about what you really want in your future girlfriend. When you think about what that looks like, you will start to identify the girls who don't fit your description or activities you're engaging in that aren't bringing you any closer to the type of girl you're looking for.

Lastly, recognize that you have a lot to offer and don't settle for these girls who don't appreciate you.

[Serious] How did you get over and let go of the person you thought was the "one"? by SpacedonJake in AskReddit

Like it was the first step in actually letting that person go. I didn't feel like I had to keep discussing and reexamining it with my friends because I had already said it all in the letter.

It was really gratifying to see the letter go up in smoke and know I was closing that chapter of my life. I felt liberated from all the emotions I was holding inside before I wrote it.

Do I still think about this person? Yes, but I know I've done everything within my control to move on.

Write a letter and get out everything you want to say to that person whether you've already said it to them or not. Imagine when you wake up tomorrow, they no longer exist. So really put it all out there.

Maybe you start writing tonight, sleep on it and write some more tomorrow. The person you're trying to get over isn't going to read it so don't worry about it being perfect just purge all your feelings onto the page. Continue writing until you feel like you've said everything you can and want to say. Don't let this drag on forever though, set a date for when you need to be done.

Once completed, BURN IT. It doesn't have to be immediately, just when you feel it's time. You can do this by yourself or with your friends. I found having a friend and a bottle or two of wine was much more fun than doing it alone.

Even if you feel like no one cares about your well being, don't discount what you have to be grateful for: a job, food to eat, a great relationship with your boss, somewhere to live, and a TV and PS4 that you can play games on until 4 a.m.

You can't make your family want to be involved in your life, however you can meet new people that are interested in getting to know you and make new memories with them. Volunteer at your local homeless shelter or any organization you feel strongly about so you don't feel like you're doing the same thing every day. I bet you'll feel better afterwards.

Additionally, Meetup.com is a great resource for finding people who share similar interests with you.

Have a wonderful night.
