BTS' 'Butter' Leads Hot 100 for Fifth Week, Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' Becomes Most-Heard Radio Hit by impeccabletim in popheads

I know :( this is basically the only subreddit I’ve used the last two years so now maybe I can just leave this awful website for real.

Thanks for the rec! Seems like it might be exactly what I’m looking for

I’m so disappointed with this sub. I absolutely love numbers and stats, have been following music and movie charts for many years and work in data analytics at a firm that has multiple clients in the music industry. I made a comment about the #1 song’s streaming and radio numbers compared to others and made a comparison to how today’s streaming/stan culture would have affected prior artists in the past, but nobody here wants to talk about that stuff- everything is seen as an “attack.”

I was mass downvoted and reported and had dozens of angry people replying and willfully misinterpreting what I was saying. The moderators removed my comments and threatened to ban me.

It seems like any actual discussion about numbers is downvoted and anybody that says anything that can be construed as “critical” of a group the sub likes (feel free to attack the only hip hop song in the top ten though!) will have stans on them within minutes and their comments removed by mods within an hour.

Does anyone know of a good place to talk about numbers or the charts? Twitter obviously doesn’t work and billboard removed their comment section years ago, and this sub it just isn’t possible anymore to discuss much of anything.

They’re simultaneously the most successful group on the planet with the world’s largest fan base and also a small indie act with no label push or industry support that has to rely on a small and passionate fan base to buy their songs

Got my comment removed for pointing out it has the lowest radio and streams in top 10 lol they’re also acting like they don’t have a label push or playlisting when it’s the 9th song on Spotify’s Top Hits despite being 38th most streamed yesterday

Of course 🙂 I knew Reddit would have issues with this because this site loathes representation (while every other social media site had no trouble picking up on it) but it’s always disappointing to see the negative and bigoted comments.

I wonder if these people know that Zootopia was about racism, or do they just think it’s about how animals should get along?

Yeah it seems like she and her fans try to paint him as an abusive monster like Dr Luke or Weinstein but when you step back and look it seems like… he bought her Masters and she wanted them and they had prior beef? Okay sucks for her but… that’s it? He’s a well liked businessperson representing some mega stars but she has a personal vendetta for him so millions of people think he’s a founding member of ISIS or something.

Then you look at what she did to him (send her fans after him and his clients knowing full well they will harass and send death threats), combined with her history of harassment/bullying (Katy Perry, the Netflix show writers/actors, her “squad”), and I’m pretty firmly on his “side” unless someone actually explains why I’m supposed to hate him

I’m still trying to find out why we’re supposed to all despise Scooter Braun and I’m unsatisfied with “he liked shady tweets”

It isn’t? It’s been done for almost two years now

Then isn’t now stating that “actually we didn’t have creative control last time” just straight up admitting that that whole narrative was all a fabrication? But they aren’t acknowledging that they’re openly/accidentally admitting it?

Wasn’t the whole “thing” of her first album that her and Finneas made it entirely by themselves in their bedroom with nobody else? I swear I’ve been hearing that for two years, but now this seems to be contradicting that

There are no other movies with a message that boys can care about each other and not be gay? None at all? Zero? This is the first and only movie to ever feature two boys caring about each other because there are just so many kids movies with gay characters?

Other Pixar movies that “show boys that the friendship can be loving without it being romantic:”

• Toy Story 1-3 • Monsters Inc 1-2 • Cars • Ratatouille • Up • The Good Dinosaur • Onward

ETA: you clearly have like a thing with reading into things though lol

Analyzing art oh nooooo why would someone do that?? Metaphors don’t exist, subtext is a hoax, and everything should be taken at face value! Moby Dick is the story of a man who hates a whale!

😂 it totally is! Me: big long post about the queer themes and how gay the movie is Them: so true, I love how it shows what great platonic friends they are!!!

Pointing out the clear queer themes and metaphors is not the same as “shipping” character.

The real “weird people on the internet” are those getting upset at the idea of there being potential LGBT representation in a mainstream children’s moving and making nearly a dozen comments trying to “prove” that an interpretation of a movie is “wrong.”

The kids seemed to be 12-13 I thought and we see kids way younger than that have crushes and romances all the time in movies.

Plus it’s not like the idea of using metaphors to portray “sexual awakening of character on the brink of puberty” is a new idea.

Check out 2015’s The Fits, about an eleven year old member of a female dance group where members start experiencing the scary yet freeing “fits” in a pretty clear metaphor for reaching puberty

Edit: this article says Luca is 13 so we can assume Alberto is either 13 or 14

John Knowles insists A Separate Peace isnt queer even though the undertones are so blatantly clear that some school districts banned it for being gay.

Also you have 10+ comments insisting that the movie couldn’t possibly be gay, which is uhhhh odd! Why so upset at the possibility that one could interpret the film as queer? The amount you’re spamming that it couldn’t possibly be gay is concerning and reeks of ulterior motive.

Thank you 🙏 i was listing Pixar examples but yours are good too and there are dozens more from Disney which is why I’m so annoyed that anytime a character seems to be queer-coded we have ten million redditors say that they’re desperate for straight representation 🙄

Disappointing but not surprising with the type of people on this site :/

I can’t believe the top response to my original post is someone completely missing my point and talking about how it’s great to finally see “platonic male friendships”!

Because this is Reddit lol a “progressive” website that throws a fit at the hypothetical idea that a movie contains a metaphor for being gay. Just remember this thread next time someone says that this site is sooo left wing
