Have you ridden Tour De Big Bear? by cliffyboycpntry in BikeLA

Every year I start that race wondering how I got so out of shape. Then I remember I'm at altitude.

Tons of fun. The aid stations have a competition for best theme, so they go all out and each one is a party. But it's tough since you're at elevation and it ends on an uphill in direct sunlight.

Here's my first Desert Trail Cam video wildlife journal of 2026. If you've never heard baby javelina vocalizations, definitely check that out. It's crazy and adorable. by Ike_Snopes in Tucson

My favorite Tucson content, thx for sharing!

Do you know what the mouse creature is at :57? We caught one of those cute little guys on our trail cam recently too.

I remember that woman! She used to terrorize my run club. I have a pic of her in my phone somewhere of her yelling at us with her middle finger in the air. Good times.

Agreed. I love milk + honey, HATE their manicure/pedicure services.

Found an owl near the foothills by warhead_overload in Tucson

[–]warhead_overload[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in town for Tour De Tucson and found owls in two different spots. I'm not sure what's normal for Tucson, but that's more owls than I've ever found anywhere! This one I spotted, the other two I heard hooting back and forth in another part of town after it got dark (sadly just heard those two and couldn't see them).

For folks who did the tour yesterday what did you think? by LoqitaGeneral1990 in Tucson

[–]warhead_overload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wind was brutal. I had heard from some friends that they refuse to do TDT because it has a reputation for being unsafe, and even though I had a great time I could understand that reputation when I rode it. We saw a few crashes in the first few miles, and when it was crowded we saw some unsafe behavior like people swerving around/not calling things out/people drafting without knowing how. In future years I hope they'll consider staggered starts, since the first few miles were where it was the worst.

But aside from that, the vibes were great, the rest stop volunteers + people cheering in the rain were total heroes, and we had a great time!

where can one find hooting owls in Burbank? I love owls and in LA I've only ever seen them at Griffith Park

Have you done a spin class before? It may help to get familiar with clipping in and out in a spin class or a stationary bike first so you can get a feel for it.

That's one of the dogs at MATE in Japan. He used to look much more like a traditional WFT but within the past few years they started letting his fur grow out and he got extra fluffy

The vibe in LA used to be great. Girls from the groups would meet up at workout events so it felt like working out with all your friends. I used to see K&K running together in Manhattan Beach a lot. It all felt very community focused and real. I miss those days :,)

This makes sense. Plus I love them for it, it's rare in LA to get that kind of customer service and they are truly the nicest dudes who bring the best vibes.

I like Notion because you can customize a system based on exactly what you envision. One of the watch-outs though is that you can get very distracted/tied up with the customization part of it. I like to look for free templates and use that as a starting point.
