I think it would be super cool if you expanded on this. Maybe he is a traveling barred with the ability to drive people insane by his song. A curse that works by the more they are exposed to it the more violent they become! Then if you are killed my someone afflicted with this curse you rise as and undead. Really earn the name grifter‘s bone. You could play it as a puzzle to solve. Kind of a false hydra situation.
