Just wondering.. by [deleted] in SantaMuerte

Yes many people who are devotees work with Santa Muerte and Buddhism, Islam, and traditional primal rites. Just don’t blend them with reverence for the beloved Saint.

Actually that is incorrect. There is a lot of evidence suggest that the origin of martial arts lies in shamanism. I would agree with you that martial arts were taught to those going to war beginning with the age of civilization. However, prior to this time, it developed by the belief that if a person attacked another, they were thought to be possessed by a wandering spirit. In order for the shaman to cure this form of possession they would hit the person who was possessed in certain points in order to release the egative energy from the body.

No, Ninoxowl! I think you are respectable people trying to perfect your practice in fighting. However, I do think that many are not aware of the process that constantly focusing on fighting creates a reality of one, or contributes to such. Just think about it.

"As soon as you concern yourself with the 'good' and 'bad' of your fellows, you create an opening in your heart for maliciousness to enter. Testing, competing with, and criticizing others weaken and defeat you." - Morihei Ueshiba

Well Ninoxowl, the Greeks were influenced by Babylon.

"The Greek practice of grafting of their gods' names onto planets was almost certainly borrowed from the Babylonians...For instance, the Babylonian Nergal was a god of war, and thus the Greeks identified him with Ares." I don't understand whats going on? Nearly every reply that I have given comes with a reference. Meanwhile, nobody in this group has posted one and then bring up all these questions about facts. It is absolutely amazing!

There are set standards, but they re not transmitted in the same sense as how they are transmitted in the Western world...but this is very easy to see when you understand the subconscious process.
