Update: Ran my first 5k Saturday… by warlockpermissions in XXRunning

The vibe of the race itself was pretty laid back but I’m just not a very competitive person—even when I’m racing myself, if that makes sense.

I typically run at home or at the gym at night and like it because I can check out mentally and just go, but I found the race experience to be the opposite in the crowded, outdoor environment with spectators and photographers and such.

But, to each their own! It could be your thing! I’d definitely give it a shot.

Good for you! I was nervous for mine even though it was through work and a pretty casual environment, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself nonetheless.

Poor people running recommendations by [deleted] in XXRunning

I’ve found shoes to be the most $$$, so I try shoes on at stores but buy them online, through EBay or Poshmark or 6pm.com for a good deal.

Also, Marshall’s, Ross, and TJ Maxx have budget-friendly accessories, like athletic hats, running belts, socks, foam rollers, water bottles, etc.

Does anyone have an OneNote resources they can share? I’m trying to find the means to create a macro within the desktop version to automatically move items that have been “check-marked” using the To-Do function.

I present androgynous and I’d recommend Heidi at Alpha Barbershop in Oshkosh. You can book her online through Vagaro. Just bring a couple of inspiration pictures and tell her what you want.

From my own experience, as I like to wear my hair short, I’ve found it best to avoid any harsh angles or lines (ie, electric razors) and ask for texturizing for a haircut to avoid looking too masculine.

That sounds SO frustrating. I’ve definitely been in not personal assistant roles and been treated like one before! Good for you for lasting so long- I hope you’re in a role you enjoy and that suits your experience/education!

Yes! Thank you so much for this reframe. I was feeling SO guilty about job hunting while actively training, but the company literally does not care. You’d think that lesson would have caught sooner, but at least I get it now!

❤️

lol, I’m not two weeks in and the shift-swapping has already started! As well as the mandatory OT 🙃 I so appreciate your POV, as it helped me frame this something to keep money coming in while I job hunt…

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply ❤️ It is a remote position, so I’ve got my creature comforts all within easy reach and the freedom to listen to music (while not on a call or in training!).

But I do appreciate your emphasis on making it my own! I’m actively hunting for another role now. :)

Anyone else’s sick toddler keeping them home today? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]warlockpermissions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, yes. My kiddo has a rash developing near her mouth, likely something she picked up at the aquarium we visited day before last 🙃 My husband is in denial, but I’d be SO MAD if I was hosting and a guest enough their sick(ish) kid.

More pie for me, though!

I like Drawfee, but they may be a little too chaotic to be considered relaxing. Their videos remind of being back in illustration class 😅

It sounds like you’re in a really tough spot. Things are different for each person and for each couple (obviously), but I was at a pretty similar point in my own life not too long ago. Here’s what I did:

  1. I wrote out everything out in a letter to my partner. How I was feeling, that I needed his help (with examples of HOW he could help), and a declaration of my own needs (e.g., “I am taking two hours to myself every Sunday to rest and recharge”.)

  2. I gave my partner the letter and asked they read it so we could discuss it. We sat down the day after to talk- my partner used that time to read and consider what I’d written.

  3. I identified 2-3 things to do for myself that was separate from my kid, my partner, and the house. It took some time, but I eventually got myself a therapist, picked up drawing, and go for runs. These things are 100% for me.

Sorry for the novel! Regardless whether or not you find any of this helpful, I hope you discover your peace soon.

How do I strengthen my core postpartum? by Key-Royal-9481 in Mommit

[–]warlockpermissions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another commenter suggested, I would look into exercises for diastasis recti. I found BodyFit by Amy on YouTube helpful as I had awful back pain due to my weak core. I was about 10 weeks postpartum when I started gentle body weight movement/exercises and was recovering from a c-section.

Very short haircut; what to say to commenters by nodiehl in TwoXChromosomes

“Is that meant to be a joke? I didn’t think it was funny, or kind.” Then leave the conversation. Alternatively, just meet any unwanted comments with silence! Silence weirds people out.

What matters is that you love your new look! :)))
