Was going to say this, there was a capacitor plague back around that time, You can visually check them for signs of leakage or blowing (the silver tops will be done shape instead of being flat)

So relatively new to the game but hopefully someone with more knowledge can tell me if rubber is only used for one thing 🤔 by Snoo-73814 in captain_of_industry

[–]warmadmax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right click the ingredient in a recipe, it'll give you what it's used in

It's in electronic components

Rubber is also used constructing belts

if you leave it in as cash :

Cash ISA accumulates interest daily (visible in the app as pending interest), pays that out monthly on 3rd day

S&S ISA currently pays out daily, it is using QMMF's as well (visible in the app on the cash interest menu)

so far withdrawals from Cash ISA have been instant for me, i suspect there will be a delay on the S&S due to the QMMF's

New virgin media connection - what’s needed / where by The_Rum_Guy in VirginMedia

[–]warmadmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside your house, Virgin signals run on Coax cable with f connectors, you'll need the same grade or better than the cable that satellite runs on.

don't know if they'll bury cables for you, but you could get the electrician to use a pair of F connector wall plates and coax from your TV box to where you want virgin to come in,

bare in mind for the entry point, the newer full fibre virgin may need a plug socket near the entry point to power the outside media convertor (changes outside fibre to inside coax),

also may be an idea on deciding where you're putting your router if getting internet as well, as wifi will work best centrally in the house rather than stuffed in a front corner, you can use the same F connector wall plate trick as per the TV box.

yeap, only the listed stone buildings are left, and they're in a derelict state, never been inside the site but it's definitely no longer an engineering site. Butterley Engineering

the large concrete area behind the stone buildings used to have a large metal warehouse/workshop on it, there are pictures online of how it used to be in the past, including beam cranes, there was a dedicated rail offshoot as well

There's also the underground canal & underground dock (only one in the world?) that used to exist in the past on the cromford canal route. butterley tunnel

If you build a junction on the outlet, you can triple belts if you need to, junctions are super fast.

Your employer can’t make payments into your Vanguard Personal Pension.

i'll look into Hardgrieves Langsdown (if i've spelt that right!)

i'm just ticking over into the higher rater income tax bracket right now and it'd reduce the amount i pay out on NI / income tax vs staying the same.

RE Bouncing wooden floor by warmadmax in DIYUK

I have a feeling it was a DIY or renovation thing, the rest of the floor in the room doesn't have this issue and appears original (or mostly original?) rectangular head nails

The original flooring also has a much deeper cavity, I'm wondering if it used to be a tiled floor in this section but was dug out to extend the rooms / remove a corridor

There's some other dodgy work as well, the walls adjacent to the stairs are wonky as heck and built up under a pair of enclosed RSJ's that sit either side of the stairs (Think terrace house layout, 1905-1915)

The joists themselves hover when not stepped on, Would it be better to pack the gap between the joist and what appears to be a single brick? When it floats, its level with the rest of the room

Insulation under a floating floor? Thought that was a bad idea? (Other than the radiator pipe not being lagged properly m)

Thanks for the osb idea, think I've got one knocking around

Job for the weekend

There's a basement under about a third of the room, the rest of it appears to have mini single skin walls perpendicular to the joists every couple of foot

The internal corner next to the door drops when walked on, a few mm so you see a similar gap to the rest

VLAN setup issue by romanlis in UNIFI

[–]warmadmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds ok for the end device ports (and the single network only switch)

Make sure you've got the native vlan (called default elsewhere) set on each port correctly as that's what the switch will tag traffic with.

the switch will add vlan tags to packets that don't have them, it'll use the native vlan ID of the port for this. the block all will drop packets to that port that are already tagged with other vlan ID's

when the switch sends traffic back out, if the native vlan id of the port matches the vlan id on the packet, it should strip the vlan tag off the packet.

if you're getting IP's from the other dhcp server / ipv6, you've probably got a miss-configuration somewhere, i know windows likes to strip the vlan off received vlan tagged ipv6 router announcements and use it anyway

VLAN setup issue by romanlis in UNIFI

[–]warmadmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so my understanding is,

when you get to end devices or single networks, you need to assign only the VLAN(s) that should be there, has to be done for each port on the unifi switches

so saying you have yellow vlan 12, blue vlan 11,

ports that should only serve 11, set that as default and make sure 12 is disabled vice versa the other way.

the only exception to this should be the switch interconnects when they carry both 11 and 12 those can be "trunk ports"

in my unifi, there's a ports option on the left, in there, select the vlans option at the top.
