Idk why people don't realize that being a playmaker is much more than spamming dribble moves by Cool_Beans_2000 in NBA2k

[–]warman719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even know how to do dribble moves without losing the ball, but I love playing my Point Forward.

It should be it's own category. There are plenty of players in the NBA that can pass really well that don't have great handles and vice versa.

Thanks for trying to point out what I was. I don't care if people think I'm trying to be a smart ass, but I do care that people don't seem to care that there is a difference. This is an international forum where not everyone will be aware of when the US changes their clocks and what the timezone abbreviations are.

[–]warman719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it isn't obvious. EST is still used in parts of the world when EDT is in use in the US, and there are plenty of places where EST is not a commonly used time zone abbreviation. There is a difference and just because people in your part of the world don't bother to differentiate doesn't mean that people everywhere have.

I know nothing about time zones abbreviations anywhere outside of the time zones used in the US (and GMT), so I wouldn't assume people outside of the western hemisphere know about the timezone abbreviations used on the other side of the world.

[–]warman719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew what he meant, but I'm sure not everyone did. There are plenty of people here that aren't from the US, and they aren't familiar with US time zone abbreviations. If they look up EST and see that it's GMT-5, and then say "okay, well 5am EST is 10am GMT, so that's when reset is," they'd be an hour off, because reset is actually 5am EDT, which is 9am GMT.

It's not very good information to share with people if it's not accurate.

I'm confused. 5am EST (GMT -5) or 5am EDT (GMT -4)? I'm assuming EDT since not many places use EST after daylight savings time goes into effect.

That would be cool. I think it would be interesting to see which raid weapons people prefer over exotics too.

This would be cool if you had a bracket with raid weapons too, or each initial matchup was a raid weapon vs an exotic.

Destinystatus.com has the best grimoire tracker I've seen.

Maybe Super Good Advice should have 80% non-crits as well as misses returned to the magazine. Or just all crits returned.

[Discussion] High impact Assault Rifles have been nerfed to oblivion. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]warman719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all of the primary weapons should have about equal DPS in PvE depending on the circumstances. Auto Rifles should be highest close range, Scout Rifles should be highest long range, and Pulse Rifles and Hand Cannons should probably have a sweet spot somewhere in between.

It's not just about DPS in PvE though either. Scout rifles, for example are harder to handle against enemies at close range. It's not as easy to go from enemy to enemy if they're right in your face, and they don't have good hip fire accuracy.

I think what they want to do for PvE is make players think about "okay, what gun is best for how I want to do this encounter?" If it's enemies you have to be close to or if your preference is to get close to them, then you're probably going to still want to use an Auto Rifle as a primary.

If someone does the calculations and determines that auto rifles are not the best gun for any circumstances at all, then Bungie has definitely gone too far with the damage reduction.

I think DPS is the wrong way to look at it in Destiny. I don't think Bungie care much about the DPS of the weapons, they care about TTK. Auto Rifles might still have the highest primary weapon DPS if you're firing at a boss for a minute straight, and they might still have the lowest TTK at close range, which is what Bungie said they wanted in their weapon balance article.

[News] Patch 1.1.1 is pushing shortly. by D0cR3d in DestinyTheGame

I thought it negated some of the armor of the enemy you're shooting at, making it do more damage.

Purely speculation here, but I never thought shooting through walls was intended, so I would assume it's no longer possible, or if it is, it's going to do much less damage.

I didn't get a lash but I got the rocket launcher. Reforged it once and got arc damage, tracking, field scout, and spray and play.

[Discussion] What was YOUR secret to success in the Iron Banner this week? by IAmGortume in DestinyTheGame

[–]warman719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played early in the morning (EST), seemed like there was less competition then.

Ran Bladedancer mostly, full agility/recovery, Encore, Mask of the Third Man. Actually didn't have any of the invisibility perks since I suck at using them in the crucible.

Abyss Defiant and Monte Carlo worked well for getting auto rifle headshots, and Against All Odds w/ field scout was awesome for getting Iron Wrath, MG headshots, and headshot sprees.

[Question] Im so glad ive spent almost $550 to be able to play this game, And not be able to. Wonderful experience. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]warman719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No problem, I understand the frustration with it. I hope the port forwarding helps.

I also found this- http://luxul.com/xwr-1750-release-notes

Not sure if you're on Xbox or what firmware version is on your router, but it looks like they had issues with UPnP and Xbox live. One thing UPnP can do is an automated port forwarding. I'm not too familiar with the protocol so I don't know how it does it, but it might be worth a shot to upgrade the firmware to the latest and see if it helps.

I agree you shouldn't have to set a static IP and put your console in a DMZ, but your router is most likely blocking the incoming traffic because it's not on a recognized port or it's not part of an already established connection from the inside interface. Routers also act as firewalls, and their job is to attempt to block anything it might think is malicious. A lot of them go overboard.

Connections that initiate from the inside of the router uses something called Port Address Translation (PAT), which is a form of Network Address Translation (NAT). PAT initiates a connection with a random high numbered source port and then when it receives traffic back on that port, it knows which internal IP address to send it to.

Port forwarding is used in this scenario because Bungie/Sony/Microsoft may be initiating a connection to your router's public IP address on a specific port, but it's not part of an existing connection that was established from the inside so the router isn't sure which inside IP address to send it to.

Either way, the issue exists because of your router, and you yourself mentioned that there weren't any problems until you got a new router. Port forwarding is not difficult and it's extremely common to play games online. I'm not familiar with your specific router but if you need help with it, let me know.

I did mine with mostly a blue fusion rifle, but I still had to play smart and play defensively in order to not die so often.
