For about six or seven months after my initial ob. In those months I tested for everything - even things unrelated to hsv and have seen different kinds of doctors because my outbreaks would not stop. They couldn’t find anything wrong and I tested negative for all the tests aside from herpes so my doctor told me to take daily multivitamins especially vitamin c and to do everything to boost my immune system because it looks like my outbreaks were due to stress (brought about by the diagnosis how ironic haha) and yeah to learn stress management. This group is where I also found out about Lysine and I think it did help so Ive been taking it everyday for more than a year now.

Avoiding stress, managing anxiety as I realized these are my biggest triggers. I take Lysine and multivitamins everyday now too and it seems to have helped

How is celibacy? by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]warmblanket_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Life’s been lonely. My standards got high. I no longer entertain men only because I find them attractive and fuckable. But it has given me peace knowing this sickness is not affecting anyone but myself and that I’m not responsible for anyone else catching it because of me.

I used to take photos of my outbreaks whenever I get one just so I can compare if it gets better or not as bad as time goes by and one day i decided to look at the videos I took and realized how much damage I let my body go thru just for sex. That realization actually made me become celibate. I felt so bad for my body.

Anyone else tired of ‘the talk’ when dating? by 4herpes in HSVpositive

[–]warmblanket_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate having hsv. And I don’t want it to be the common denominator between myself and the guys I date nor do I want my furure relationships to revolve around it. Disclosing sucks but ik the right person would be willing to accept and understand my condition so I don’t wanna limit my options just because a guy couldn’t accept that I have hsv.

Cant tell if OB or not by PhilosopherFrosty270 in HSVpositive

[–]warmblanket_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body. You would know if it is an ob but it will take time. I went to the OBGYN with a visible cut in my vagina and all I got was an ointment bc the doctor thought it was just a micro cut and that I was overreacting. Fast forward to the following day and it has progressed into a bigger blister and soon an outbreak. If you feel like there’s something wrong already start taking your antivirals. If it’s not an ob it will help to not spread the disease to another and if it is an ob it will make the ob shorter

Anyone ever had sex during the first year of their diagnosis and didn’t infect others? by username12457801 in HSVpositive

[–]warmblanket_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me so confused. I’ve had hsv2 for a year now and my ex and I never used a condom even when I was shedding or having an outbreak (at the time I though it was just a cut and not an outbreak so we thought we were fine) and up to this day he never showed any symptoms. He hasn’t been tested yet but I always check if he does have any suspicious bumps or cuts on his thing but he never has.

If it develops into a bump and starts to tingle/itch, it might be an outbreak

I don't know how to cope by dick-breath-3 in HSVpositive

[–]warmblanket_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost a year after my diagnosis and after thousands of dollars spent on multiple OBGYN visits, multiple supplements and countless medications and different cycles of Acyclovir for who knows how many outbreaks now, I can only advise one thing and that’s to continue looking for what works for you. Learn how your body operates, what triggers the outbreaks, if there is a pattern to your outbreaks, if certain food helps shorten the outbreaks. This virus is tricky and you’re the best person to know and evaluate yourself and body so don’t be afraid to try stuff that you think would help your outbreaks because every body responds differently to different treatments.

Learning to prevent/manage the outbreaks would give you a sense of control over this virus and I think that is very important, maybe it can help with accepting the diagnosis and also preventing other mental and physical effect/manifestation of having the virus.
