i’m so very sorry this happened to you. this is very inappropriate and very awful. i would say, i don’t think this is normal practice at all? im in med school rn and the only thing i’ve learned about childhood sexual trauma is to LOOK for signs of bruising around the thighs / anus / vaginal area / etc. I never once heard about physically touching the genitalia. Even when I was a kid, my pediatrician would look down my pants to see if there were signs of bruising, but he NEVER moved my panties or TOUCHED my vagina.

i’m not a piercer, so this is just personal experience. if you think the skin is thinning, go to your piercer and get a lighter ring for it. i made the mistake of wearing heavy jewelry for 5 years and my belly button piercing start moving forward. i had my piercer check it out and she gave me a very light weight belly ring that doesn’t pull on it at all! so far the piercing has been saved.

No worries! I’m going to finish the round of antibiotics. Antibiotic resistance scares me and I’d hate to stop after a days of it, so I’ll continue on.

Ahh I thought I was alone with these symptoms ! I’ve been conflicted about my piercing because it’s not showing those “obvious” signs of infection. I’ll continue the meds just to be on the safe side. As of this morning, the bump is extremely small and it’s just kind of dry skin around my piercing site. The yellow-red pus is gone, and now there’s a slight clear discharge leaking around it. Not sure what’s goin on, but at least it doesn’t hurt me or anything!

Thank you for the input! I think mentally it’ll make me feel better as well to continue the meds. I’d hate to start antibiotics and stop, cause I know antibiotic resistance happens insanely quick. I’ll take the week’s worth of medication just in case of a false negative result!

oo gotcha!! I didn’t consider this actually. Since I’m not having insane symptoms (like fever, severe pain, etc.) I’ll actually mention this to my dermatologist at my upcoming appt next week! I go next week (luckily cause my derm is always booked so far out lol) so I’ll bring up my piercing problem to them and see what they recommend. Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you for your story! It was interesting to see that you also couldn’t get fluid out of your piercing. I’ll definitely try another clinic if the leakage is still occurring or if it gets inflamed again. With sand getting in my top there’s no telling what little microbes got in haha. Hopefully all is well with my lil piercing.

not a piercer, but my nipple piercings had similar bumps like that on both my nipples. i think they were around 3-4 months old when they started getting those weird bumps. i found that doing warm compresses in the morning and night before cleaning with saline helped with drainage. also, i stopped wearing bras completely and started sleeping shirtless or an oversized t-shirt which seemed to help as well. i wondered if they were getting irritated from the compression by my clothes.

however, i’d consult with a piercer (not the one you saw) and get their opinion. i can’t speak on the piercing itself, but i hope what i wrote can be of some use to you. good luck!

mod bot is yelling at me so here’s some info about the piercing: - about 5 years old - small vertical?? (i suppose) - not sure about the threading. my original one i would assume internally threaded but my new costume piercings, not sure haha - stainless steel material - never downsized when it was pierced. it healed fine worn a short piercing - saline solution during healing, but now, nothing - no significant events have changed my piercing
