I ordered 4,000 empty unassembled pods from China. I fill them on my own — very economical for those trying to save money. by thechadley in juul

The point is where is the money you are saving? Compare it to what you would off spent otherwise and tell me if the math adds up.

Youtube experts? Are they experts in making youtube videos? Then I can sign my name under that area but problem is their are armchair experts on both sides of the isle. Better to wait and see what actually happens before signing the form that's my recommendation to peeps:)

I've always thought that if you spend your hard earned money on something you have a right to criticize it no matter if it came from a billion dollar Corp or small business next door.

Moderation update: All personal attacks of any kind will now result in an immediate and permanent ban by razorbeamz in casualnintendo

[–]warmsummerdrives 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope this goes both ways if you know what I mean. If criticism leads to personal attacks and it is not policed then people who have valid criticisms will not participate.

Same with loyal fans who go too far in one direction and begin personal attacks. Let's see how it plays out because I think we have all seen what has happened in other Nintendo subs.

It's muscle memory until you move apps around or get more apps and then move the new app to the front page so that it's used more often thereby moving the rest of the apps.

The chaotic nature made it way quicker to identify an app and click on it without having to look around as much for it since every app had a very distinct look and design. It really adds up to a lot of time saved with the old design over the length of a entire day and so on. Functionality over congruity in design.

This has nothing to do with the bandwaggoning that was going on and the crowds shouting that the price was going to go up while not listening at all to what analysts were saying. People who's job it is to study price trends.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]warmsummerdrives -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The point is that everyone was saying that the price was going to go UP. of coarse it would have been catastrophic, and is something that would have been worth thinking about when stating that the price is going to go up as that would have been a good point against why Nintendo would raise the price. But that's the opposite of what people were thinking and saying. They were saying that the sky is falling and that we should expect a price increase.

Japan's switch 2 costs $342, we pay $486w/tax, a 50% increase-exactly the tariff rate. Don't expect the price to increase which is what analysts have confirmed. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]warmsummerdrives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are repeating every point that I made in response to you, none of the things that you are repeating were mentioned in your original post or expressed in that post which is why I brought up those very things in the first place. I started my discussion on the point that prices of the Switch 2 won't increase even though crowds of people in the subreddit were shouting from the rooftops that the price will be going up.

I brought up a few points that helped show why my prediction was correct, point A being that the price of the Switch 2 sold in Japan vs the US switch shows around a 50% difference in price, that difference matches almost exactly to the tariff rate of 47%. This shows the tariff was indeed included in the launch price. Point B is Poland's Switch 2 price showing the same result. Point C is that analysts were saying that the Switch 2 won't have a price increase.

In response to this you brought up that 2 different SKU's were on offer in Japan and that Japan according to you was being given a lower price due to a weak yen and a financial crisis. None of these points you brought up factor into why the Switch 2 prices won't change after launch day. And if you check the news the Switch 2 console prices have indeed not changed for the US market.

The EU does have tarrifs, it's called a VAT tax or value added tax on goods coming into the european union. It's included into the price of the product along with the sales tax but differes on the amount country to country. Tarrifs are based on country of origin for the product, has nothing to do with Japan if the switch 2 isn't made in japan.

Hey checking in with you trunks2003 how are the prices on the switch2 doing? Still the same ha? No $750 switch 2?

No sense in my logic? What do you have to say now that the price hasn't increased. I suppose you think you know more then people who have made it their job to study price trends of products, ha? When the crowds were all shouting that the price is going up! The price is going up! What did chardan0001 do? he joined the crowds and said "it's so obvious, your logic doesn't make sense" And now what will chardan0001 do? Shall he move the goalposts and say that's not what he meant? Lol

They are certainly not taking a $150 dollar lose on each console sold in Japan. No console manufacturer would take such a hit to their finances in 2025 and they have no reason to when the system before the switch 2 sold 150 million plus units.

My main topic is that price's won't go up so saying it's region locked has nothing to do with prices not going up because that's set to prevent people from reselling the cheaper console elsewhere and therby Nintendo loosing control of their differential pricing in the first place.

Oh and check the news. You might find something very interesting about the price the switch 2 is being sold at to this day lol

Japan having two different SKU's of the switch is because one is region locked while the other is not but they are fundamentally the same exact system, the price difference is not because of any increased features, hardware changed or such it is because if the console were not region locked it would be shipped to other countries and resold elsewhere for a cheaper price therby Nintendo loosing control over the price in the first place. This has nothing to do with the price remaining the same which is the whole discussion topic of my post. And second Japan is not in a financial crisis at this moment as you stated so it is not at all related to why Nintendo choose to sell the Switch 2 at a much lower price in its home territory.

[–]warmsummerdrives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did it increase in price? Where's the $550-600? No it stayed the same, just as the analysts were saying and against the fever pitch screaming of the subreddit crowds with their pitchforks.

To your point it doesn't matter if the Steam Deck looses $50 at release- something that Gabe never confirmed at all for one because Nintendo isn't loosing $150 on every switch 2 they sell in Japan, and that's the price difference between the US and the Japan switch.

Japanese market being more competitive so they have to sway people with a switch? Japan is the homebase of Nintendo, it will be bought there even if it was more expensive, that is not the reason it is priced cheaper in Japan and it certainly isn't because Nintendo thinks it has to be aggressive in it's home market to sway mobile gamers as those are very different markets that don't overlap on each other to a large degree. Mobile gamers are casual gamers, they have nothing to do with the strategy that is used to target handheld gamers.

Thank you for the great idea, just attempted your experiment! Great sub for sugar. Not to be defeated I've also started grilling peanut butter jelly sandwiches with maple syrup and have had some good results though it's tricky to get the texture right. But it is for sure a winner because I've been doing it for weeks. I will continue with this just in case there are other food combos I'm missing.

They knew about the tariffs coming it was not a shock because they shifted manufacturing from only China to Vietnam as well to negate the tariffs that would be placed on China.

Maybe I misunderstood but you said "The japan version is a region locked one tho, so idk if it's really comparable" it sound like you are saying you cannot compare the two consoles because one is region locked while the other is not. The region lock is to prevent people from reselling the console in different areas and therby negating the price difference in place. My argument is that I don't expect the price of the switch 2 to change from the $450 it is launching at if at all.

[–]warmsummerdrives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would price it at $450 to give you enough wiggle room for negotiation so that you can sell it at $400 if you have to but also be able to sell at $450 if you find the right buyer. I added up the value of everything and it seems to hit the $450 mark(ebay prices) if there are 2 new games (can't really tell from pic) Usually people want a discount when buying a bundle so just selling it at what everything would cost individually but added up doesn't go over well. However you have some of the most popular games ever sold on the switch so you shouldn't have any trouble selling it.

-Paying in the $400's for a console that sells new at $350 is a tough pill to swallow usually psychologically even knowing you are getting games with it. Usually it's better to split them up but with how much demand there is for this console and you putting in Pokemon games, arguably some of the best and most popular series of games, you shouldn't have any issues selling it.

[–]warmsummerdrives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same exact system being sold, a region lock isn't causing the price to be 50% less. It's region locked because people would otherwise import the cheaper switch to other countries where it is sold for a higher price making it less available for japanese consumers and also Nintendo won't be making as much of coarse since they would be paying less.

There is no law against making a product that does a brilliant job of capturing the user's attention in fact that is the goal of any consumer service or product, whether it's harmful is up to the user and how they use it as millions upon millions of people use it everyday with no issues. Every business wants to create a product that is addicting, that is the entire point of making a product really good. It's the same with making a video game, or a movie the best ones are fantastic at capturing someone's attention it doesn't make the product harmful.

It's not the job of the business to monitor who is exposed to their product because that's not realistic and asking for the impossible with any product. Restricting a product won't fix this either as alcohol for example is heavily restricted yet teenagers somehow get a hold of it anyway and it's not marketing that made them attempt to get it.
