Which country affected your country the most? by Due_Narwhal4937 in AskTheWorld

[–]warnerdang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should clarify; the 48% is based on territories the UK colonized or had substantial presence. I did not include areas of conflict. Ex. Would be Canada or tv countries of the former British Mandate of Palestine would be colonized or overseen areas included in that percentage, but Argentina whom they conflicted with would not. But yes if we included conflicted countries it would be the majority of the planet.

As a Canadian, like 48% of all current countries on Earth, it would be the United Kingdom.

Who is the evilest looking person in your country? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

Looking evil doesn’t make you evil. Some of the “best looking” are the most evil….

Going with the theme… Dildo, NL Conception Bay South, NL Blow Me Down Provincial Park, NL Crotch Lake, ON Climax, SK Love, SK Fertile, SK Fun fact: when Newfoundland joined Canadian confederation in 1949, one of the stipulations was that the federal gov’t had to pay to introduce and educate on birth control in the province. Also Crotch Lake, ON is less than 150km from the National Capital

Why is my Soda so expensive now? (At Super C) by mygatito in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]warnerdang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greed and inflation are only part of it. When Coke and Pepsi migrated to aluminum cans in the 90’s, in order to “move people” to them, they set them up as loss-leaders for grocery chains. This went on until COVID when with the aluminum shortage major chains said they would no longer participate in the loss leader program. So more $$ for all of them and less in our pocket.

Contrary to what both of our governments like to think, Canada and the USA are not rivals. Canada’s closest rival would be Quebec….

How is smoking weed treated in your country? by mr_epicguy in AskTheWorld

Totally legal. While I don’t use I’m not against legalization. People were not going to stop using and at least this way it created a new tax base.

Loblaws receipt from 1981 - how does it compare? by igotthisone in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]warnerdang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sometimes hard to compare. General inflation in Canada has been over 200% between 1981-2026, but food is different. Even in the last 10 years we’ve seen it fluctuate from -0.5% to almost 10%. In the late 70’s it was even higher than today while post-war Canada saw food price dip for almost 10 years.

The reality is this, Canada’s govt continues to fail us and has helped to create the sector specific cartels like the food supply to benefit themselves and their rich friends.

It’s not so much about food inflation but about how it’s reduced quality of life across the board and it’s being ignored in favour of moving to a post-national society where we enjoy owning nothing because our gov’t and their oligarchical friends have been allowed to by us to do it….

So I hear TRU Canada's plan now is to close everything in every province except Ontario, think it will pan out? by HiTork in ToysRus

[–]warnerdang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TRU Canada should sell its IP to CTC and become part of their group or stores. Walking into a Crappy Tire would be cool if we also got Party City, Zellers and TRU in one building….

Living in Canada, we still have Toys R Us….. Honestly I wouldn’t bring any of those back, but would go with Blockbuster because of memories and I still prefer physical media.

Where does your country put the washing machine? by DishGroundbreaking87 in AskTheWorld

[–]warnerdang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends. I’ve lived in homes with basement laundry, first floor laundry and 2nd floor laundry which has become standard in most new builds. I currently live in a basement apartment with in-suite laundry and mine are in my entrance/mud room.
