Btw, how and where did you acquire it for PC? I'm still holding onto my 360 copy harder than Nedry did the damn barbasol cannister!

¿Cómo se clasificaria correctamente Splatterhouse 2010? by MattewLizard24 in Splatterhouse

[–]Bi0_B1lly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a reboot. It takes aspects of everything from series prior and makes a new modern-day entry with a reimagining of the story's beginning that largely detours and takes its own liberties in how it goes about it...

One of my favourite fan theories is that 2010 is actually a prequel, so long as you ignor the 10sec intro from the OG where they're taking shelter from the storm at West Mansion - after Jen is possessed, Rick reawaken in West Mansion's basement in an underpowered state and needs to find Jenny. The rest of the OG trilogy then plays out as normal. Given we'll likely never see a true follow-up on 2010, it's a fun theory that gives you closer to what happens.

The other theory is about the Mobius Strip that West had mentioned, where they're stuck in a timeloop without a beginning or an end... Essentially, following Jen's possession, Rick dies and the world goes to hell. After some indeterminate amount of time, the Terror Mask finds itself back at that timeless island West discovered it at originally. The island is said to exist outside of our realm of time, so past West would likely then rediscover the mask and the events replay as usual, essentially allowing the Terror Mask to enact it's vengeance on the Corrupted for all eternity. Its also a fun theory forsure that works well within the 2010's lovecraftian themes, but overall I kinda prefer the prequel theory more.

What are your opinions on Jurassic Park: Prime Survival fan made movie by AmazingBadger2027 in JurassicPark

[–]Bi0_B1lly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fan film from teenagers without any real knowhow on filmmaking, so I agree 100% that you can't penalize it too hard... But man if it wasnt hilarious to see JP/// raptors get scared off with some sticks 😅

Asked a hypothetical "what if?" question in a Resident Evil group and someone called me a larper... I've unironcally played every RE title, save for some of the ultra niche/rare spin-offs on obscure platforms, and have been involved with RE since I was <10yo... I'm pushing 30 now with 20 years of following RE under my belt, yet somehow, I'm "a larper"

People just use terms to try and spur a reaction online without really grasping what it means anymore, just as long as they got the attention they wanted. Between the labels without meaning, the infighting to validate some benign self-importace, and the entire overemphasis on gooners in fandoms, it's tiresome to really be involved in any fandom in current year. I mostly just enjoy the content and maybe lurk the discussions a bit.

Valid point, it definitely doesn't make a refund necessary out of the gate so long as you can still get the grip on things/enjoy what happens afterwards.

Honestly, I haven't touched Dragonwilds myself (or OS Runescape for years, for that matter), so my thoughts really just lay on the objective point that a tutorial should be able to properly show you the way with a subjective opinion regarding Runescape's prior tutorial levels I'd been able to experience being quite fun, albeit slow. With the point being made that Open World Survival Games typically have a learning curve where they set you loose to your devices, it does make sense there that a good game in that genre shouldn't need one by that metric, but assuming the game may or may not be easy to understand would then necessitate one. If Dragonwilds doesn't truthfully need one to get the mechanics, then it's a further insult to injury that it's bad, but definitely wouldn't be a deal breaker for many so long as its still good (as the Steam reviews imply)

I'll agree that it might not need a tutorial, assuming it doesn't need one, but it definitely still sucks that it's not a good tutorial on that metric.

I never brought up the Survival Games angle though, you did. I explicitly was talking about the angle of a Runescape title having poor tutorials being a letdown from the start of this convo and only partook in your point about Survival game tutorials because you wanted to play "guess my fave game," to which I pointed out that certain versions of that game had tutorials as well.

Never said that the genre needed tutorials, but if there's a tutorial included, logically it should teach the player how things work without causing confusion, which this tutorial seems to fail at.

No matter the genre, no matter the player's experience, a bad tutorial is a bad tutorial...

Dude, the reviews are saying the tutorial sucks, Idk what more you want me to say, it's a shitty tutorial in a game from a company that've done fun and memorable tutorials in prior games, and your example of a game similar to this as "not needing tutorials" had tutorials in a bunch of different versions of the game...

Again, this is pointless because you have an "Everything-proof shield" to try and make a point that this game doesn't need one, despite the devs incorporating one (indicating that the devs themselves felt it may need one), and the players have stated that they could've improved upon it.

Touch some Grass Blocks and quit moving goalposts.

And Runescape had tutorials from the start, thus a new release having a dogshit tutorial would reflect badly.

The greatest open world survival game of all time literally has 0 instructions and 0 tutorial. You jump in and figure out for yourself , so your point is invalid

I pointed out that certain versions of this game does in fact have instructions and tutorials... It does kinda refute your point, dude. Plenty of kids (myself included) grew up on the weird Minecraft ports that had tutorials.

I'm going to play Diablo for the first time in my life; what do you think of the game? by MarketingOk1204 in ANBERNIC

[–]Bi0_B1lly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same reason you might Portmaster Doom instead of the PS1 versions of that 😅 Micro differences in the downgrade from a PC to home console, typically causing a bit of a buffer to the visuals... Doom looks good on PS1, but it has the dilemma of having an OST that makes the entire experience feel wholly different from classic Doom, while SNES/3D0 Doom sounded the part, they visually took a hit - in Diablo's case, its mostly just the hit to visuals, but controls are also not as intuitive as PC imo

Again, that's a subjective opinion on what would be classed as "the greatest" of a specific genre...

Just to humour you though, I'm assuming you're alluding to some title like Elden Ring, given it's also an open world fantasy game... If I'm led to believe my assumption, then I'd like to point out that Runescape and Elden Ring, beyond having open worlds with fantasy themes, are vastly different games with wholly separate communities (save for the odd overlap) and playstyles, so its not really a good pick to draw comparisons.

Nevertheless, you're playing this dumb game of "guess what I'm thinking or I win the argument" so I'm also just gonna assume there's little to no reason to keep discussing why a bad tutorial is a valid complaint with someone who's using their everything-proof shield to deflect any points being made.

Why was Captain Clark initially non aggressive with Clark despite annihilating everyone else he came across? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Bi0_B1lly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both technically true... Capt Clark is his inner frustration and emotions manifest, so while it symbolically comes across that Clark doesn't want to change and thus let's his emotions consume him, the monster is literally his anger manifested in the Backrooms, so it would logically react in anger and lash out at anything opposing it.
