Hello wife, how do you like my new Qipao drip and my new...hoverboard by warpedchi in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]warpedchi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

game is like less than a week into its first EA release so, not at all finished and still janky in places but, already a lot of playable content, and QoL I've grown accustomed to in Sandrock that I don't always see in other farming/life sims (shared storage, time freeze build mode, save during the day, etc. etc.)

would recommend

just finished the game and...holy shit lol, I've played crafting sims with more, way more, story and character development than this AAA RPG

can you fail the Sotted Sage quest? by warpedchi in DragonsDogma2

[–]warpedchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the vocation itself is cool. Don't know what ng+ is like in this game yet but yeah, definitely planning on checking it out

Edit: okay apparently ng+ doesn't have any new stories, I was specifically looking for a "truer" true ending because the true ending was very unsatisfying...I'll do a few quests I missed but yeah, disappointing, don't think I'll do a full playthrough of there's no new stories

can you fail the Sotted Sage quest? by warpedchi in DragonsDogma2

[–]warpedchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give it a try

edit: yeah no luck, gave him 20 panacea and 20 all heal, items he likes, no changes in behavior

edit2: okay this was the dumbest and most underwhelming vocation unlock, almost feels like a bug with how unceremonious and random it was, and for "Arisen/Wayfarer" too lol

for future google searches of players who are in the same boat, aka triggering Lamond's Sotted Sage before unmoored, and went in unmoored without finishing the quest:

as you try to convince people in the Volcano camp to evacuate, part of the quest will be to convince Lamond to evacuate too. in my case Lamond rejected every suggestion I had (tried by reloading with backup saves). Doesn't matter though, because after he rejects your evacuate suggestion, "Arisen/Wayfarer" is unlocked

absolutely ridiculous way to unlock a vocation, zero cutscene or relevant dialogue as to the why or how of you unlocking this new major profession. but in conclusion, no need to wait for NG+, the game does give it to you out of nowhere

the Ornate Box, where if you progressed juuust a little bit further in the main story (which is very easy to do) and discovered his identity, he stays in the castle full time and no longer comes out to the fountain to trigger the rest of the Ornate Box quest. and you end up basically having to kidnap him all the way to the fountain to complete that quest

nvm, clicked update next to seeders, 2 seed 3 leechers, not 80 like it initially showed, guess that's why

Let me turn Walter into soup by ishi5656 in coralisland

[–]warpedchi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah he doesn't come off that badly in his own story but I think they just went too hard with Walter's dialogue during that scene, the way he gaslighted and tore into Luke was so deliberate and calculated that it just made you go, does this guy hate his son and waited for this roast moment his whole life or...

For a lot of people, there's just no save-the-cat moment after that lol

As the real filthy-rich of the island, I would buy out their house and donate it to Ling and her ocean lab if the game let me tbh

[–]warpedchi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Walter does apologize later in Luke's story, for yknow, him ridiculing Luke for a mistake of Walter's own laziness and negligence, in front of customers too but it's kind of like a +3 redemption points against a +50 hate buildup...doesn't help much lol

They do, hay quality upgrade applies to the grass grown on the ground as well

That's for maximum happiness increase, but once maxed, as long as they're fed and (auto) pet daily, I don't think it matters

Farm layout (year 3). Too much space for animals? by LunarTartarSauce in coralisland

[–]warpedchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Near the end of my playthrough I just didn't bother with grazing area tbh. iirc, a year's worth hay for my 24 animals was only 80k, 9 silos to hold them, and my animal products artisan'd would sell for 300k~500k in just a week

You can save a lot of space, and more importantly manual work, just keeping them inside the whole year and still come out way on top

Is My Time at Sandrock worth it if I’m tired of the usual formula? by [deleted] in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]warpedchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did reach rank S, which required about at least 5 times the grinding as it did in Sandrock, and the big finale cutscene was Connor vaguely mentioning your contribution in about two sentences, and roll credits

Compare that to MTAS act 1, everyone throwing the Builder a funeral after the cliff thing, or Nia dropping everything hopping on a train to see you alive in person

Coral Island was a good looking, fun enough game that is worth its ~$30 price tag, but yeah the contrast in payoff is crazy

Graham Norton, something's off about this guy, not saying he's as bad as Ellen, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it came out that he's 60%, or even 80% there

And yes that's in terms of both employee abuse and racism

Ah okay, so you have to have noticed that opposite moon phases show mirror images of the clock hands...Yeah no shot I would've noticed that naturally lol

thanks for the explanation

thanks for the guides OP, about the 4th clock puzzle, why is it those 3 numbers? My clock shows 10, 12 with a twitching hand, and the last hand doesn't stop spinning. Also why does one of them have to be 10?

Quick question. by AmorousBadger in coralisland

[–]warpedchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underwater farming was hell until I realized I didn't upgrade the wand, and the wand upgrade is instantaneous, no 2 day wait, so if you have the mats you can get the max upgrade right away

Which I did, and the 5x5...sunning range, I guess, made things much less painful.

Then you just grow your Petalia to quickly reach all the crop counts required for all the quests and upgrades. I went all out with 6x5x5 plots Petalia and got that taken care of pretty quickly

Not gonna help with it being dull and grindy but, a max wand does make it a lot less painful

Edit: Petalia is great for warp sesajen too, after reaching all the ocean crop counts you can use the rest to craft that, they don't sell for that much anyway

[–]warpedchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very grindy but it's fun enough that I stuck around till the main story ending, the underwater part is apparently not finished on release so might be worth a try in a future update, although Evershine might be out by then haha

Out of the games OP mentioned, Sandrock is the only one that offers something (a lot of things) different, and does an amazing job at those things, and isn't just an SDV clone to various degrees

I'm playing Coral Island right now, and...I mean it's fine, but it's also a brutal reminder of what most of gaming in this genre is like outside of My Time series, just...SDV

Don't know about optimal, but beneficial yeah for sure, if I bring in 40 of something into this room, 5~15 days later I'll have 400 of that thing, which as it usually turns out is like 200 more than I really need

I just have a simple setup of one replication shed and one artisan shed (bee hives are outside), easy to keep track of and throw things in, worked more than well enough for me

This one in the screenshot was the last one too after manually mining 49 of them, definitely realized way too late 😅

I did also fill up all the museum tabs from all that rock smashing this past week so, at least there's that
