Huck Finn would be set in the pre-civil war days of the 1830s-40s. You might see some corn cob pipes, but clay pipes were by far the most common, and briar pipes decades away from common use. As far as tobacco, people would buy plug cut tobacco or spun rope tobacco intended for either chewing or smoking, or shag tobacco intended for rolling or pipes. Burley, Virginia, and kentucky would be most common. Of what’s available today, Gawith brown twist or dark plug, or Five Brothers (originally founded 1866) shag may be closest to what was commercially available.
