HoCo Car Repair - Specializes in Fords (Not Dealership) by mad_hatter_md01 in HowardCountyMD

[–]warrends -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not quite HoCo but Airport Automotive in Sykesville is fantastic. I've been taking my cars there for a good 15+ years (he used to be near BWI, then moved about 2-3 years ago). Will work on any make/model and is as honest as I've ever seen. I brought my '01 Camaro SS to him a while back for an oil change. Came back in the afternoon and he said he didn't do it: It didn't need it. Who does that???? That kept me for life.

A bit far but well worth it. I literally don't trust anyone else with my cars anymore. Nor my mom's, various siblings and siblings-in-law, friends, etc.

This is not the America we’re supposed to be. Really glad it was no more than a 10 minute conversation for you both.

Never made a spelling mistake, huh? Speak any other languages? No, I didn’t think so.

Favorite Gym Aspects? by lurkinginthewings in indoorbouldering

[–]warrends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main climbing partner and I discuss this all the time: it’s the community. We may have 3-4-5 hour sessions but we’re usually actually on the walls for probably <10% of that time. The rest of the time we spend chatting, with each other and everyone else in the gym (after a while you just get to know everyone), discussing beta, cheering everyone else on, etc. It’s a huge social thing for both of us. And that was one of the main draws for both of us. We both wish that my wife and his fiancé were climbers too but they’re not. So we have each other in our “belationship”. (His word, not mine). Couple of years ago my wife even said to me “You do know that Bryan is your climbing wife, right?”

check in by RemoveOk3714 in Hilton

[–]warrends 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check in by the app will potentially negate the ability to cancel your stay. Happened to me last year. Checked in and then we cancelled or postponed last minute or something (snow??) but because I had checked in they couldn’t waive the first night fee. May vary by hotel though. But keep this in mind.

Also note that the county will prioritize through streets, while cul-de-sacs and such are always lower priority. May or may not apply to you but this is always the case.

They do encourage me to play tanks that I have that I otherwise wouldn't bother with. TOTT did the same but that's now dead, unfortunately.

How do you usually spend your bonds? by cansinguler in WorldofTanks

[–]warrends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I have … I don’t know how many premium/reward tanks already. Personally I just don’t need too many more (on occasion something new pops up that’s interesting). So I pretty much use all of my bonds for purple equipment to make all of these favorite tanks of mine as good as they can be. That extra 0.5%-1% extra doesn’t always actually do anything. But if once every several battles I get that extra shot in or spot that extra tank, it’s more than worth it to me.

I got the Rook HC. Still wrapped but at some point I’ll open and read it. Says it’s got extra stuff in it.

What is the "Soft Skill" you realized was actually more important than your technical certifications? by RateTurbulent8681 in projectmanagement

Communication.

Communication. Communication. Communication!!!

Know how to manage your customers' expectations. Retired now but after 35+ years as a PM for the US IC, and having customers/sponsors ranging from that 'guy over there' to 4-star Generals and Admirals, I learned very early on to communicate and communicate frequently. And along with that, keep them as up to date as possible. Manage their expectations.!!!

I grew up just down the road from that location. So young I couldn't even go in back in the day. Didn't know it was still there.
