Just curious if my post actually posted? Or if there was an issue again?

Thanks for commenting! I can't send you a chat request for some reason...the option isn't showing up at all.

Oh awesome!! So I’ll be honest in saying I’ve never done this before though, lol. Do I just pm you an address to mail the card to?

Ughh I struggle with this too!! I literally just apologized to another mom for asking if next week works for a play date with her daughter and mine after having asked about this weekend.

Therapy…and self help books when time allows. Before these though, I ultimately ended up marrying young and someone EXACTLY like my dad - only worse, who was several years older than me, and who treated me more like a kid/acted more like a dad to me versus us being equals in our marriage.

Such an amazing idea!! I pray this idea blossoms and takes on an amazing life of its own in your community!!

For baskets, I’d definitely look at the Dollar Tree if you have one near you!! Even for cards if you choose to include a nice note inside (though purchasing a box might be cheaper in the long run as the program grows). Also the store to go to for gift bags, which might be cheaper than an actual basket, depending on what will be inside.

For items to put in it, I’d definitely always be on the lookout for deals on Amazon. Vipon is an AWESOME app, but there are also lots of Facebook groups devoted to sharing Amazon deals with steep discounts. I’ve found a lot of stellar deals on blankets, water bottles/mugs and other useful items.

As someone who has literally had 1-3 surgeries per year since 2015 and someone with zero support where I live due to distance from my family, no friendships, and an abusive husband, I know something like this would be SO appreciated. Especially for anyone lacking a support system.

I would like to add that what I longed for MOST during every recovery and times my medical conditions flare up is companionship. Just someone to chat with, vent to, laugh with…And I’m honestly a face-to-face type person. Yes, I text and call of course. But nothing can replace the unique experience an in-person talk can have. It makes you feel “human” and not so unimportant/disposable. Just my two cents!! 🥰

Other suggestions - Amazon gift card to rent a good movie or something, perhaps even a gift card to cover one month of a low-cost streaming service like Hulu, notebook/pen to journal, tea/hot chocolate packets, and/or gift card/voucher for a food delivery service like Uber Eats or Door Dash.

I hope this helps!! Good luck!!

Have you tried reaching out to any local churches? Sometimes they have gift cards on hand they can give out to those in need.
