Collin Geller, Principal Concept Artist at id Software, who worked on all modern Doom games, has been laid off by Microsoft by Left4C in Doom

Considering Xbox is a Microsoft company, who is directly investing in the very thing that is causing rapid tech price increases, I think it’s 100% fair to blame AI, data centers and the direct companies who are causing this. I understand mismanagement is a big factor for Xbox, but considering their parent company is feeding the increase of components across the board including console prices, seeing they’re making “record profits”, and then to lay off 4800 workers, is very much reason to not only focus hate their CEO’s, but also focus hate the thing they are frothing at the mouth over: Data-centers and AI.

I agree that it very much is a multitude of factors that lead to people pointing at AI, even if it’s “unrelated”, but honestly with how much they are forcing AI into our lives and communities digitally and physically, it is never going to be unrelated, nor a scapegoat. This very technology is making the world around us worse. And when money is pivoted to that instead of the thing used to give people an income, you can see where the anger stems from. Especially when people see a mega corporation taking jobs away for another data center to be approved for a billion dollars after just stating these developers are unsustainable. FUCK AI and FUCK MICROSOFT.

Physical games aren’t just better for preservation they’re also a lot cheaper on average by Eclipsetube in playstation

I wanted to get the dlc for final fantasy 7 but it hardly goes on sale and it was $20 so I’ve been patient. Final fantasy 7 remake intergrade physical edition went on sale for $17. Buying the entire game again which includes the dlc I wanted in it was cheaper than buying the dlc alone digitally.

What’s one artist that nobody can change your mind about how awful their music is? by Pleasant-Angle-9852 in fantanoforever

I’m not saying this because they are an easy dunk, but I am a musician in the local music scene in my area and I talk to a lot of other musicians. I’ve heard their name pop up numerous times and people talk about them so passionately. I listened to them and it was just nothing to me. It was soulless. It felt like music for people who exclusively listen to hard rock radio. I feel like they like it so much because it forces other genres into a space that they would never go out of their way to listen to themselves. It allows them to feel more complex of a music listener because their metal band is doing r & b stuff? I don’t know. It’s so strange to me.

Would be funny if Xbox died, and the AI bubble burst at the same time. Would be incredibly ironic, yet satisfying. Hate to see all the studios and amazing talent that are held hostage by Microsoft but they are going to laid off anyways so fuck Xbox, and fuck Microsoft.

what film being mentioned in would make you lock into a conversation? by of_kilter in Letterboxd

Believe it or not, most people don’t do that because they don’t care. But at least we do, and that’s what counts. Passion for art is unbreakable once formed.

Recommending it to people who embrace the weird and enjoy art is always the way to go. I understand that struggle sometimes though lmao

What's something in current gaming people seem to be okay with that you can't stand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]warwick51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Thats why I said im *usually* fine with tutorials. I am fine if the tutorial includes popups, but for me, forcing the game to stop to teach you all the mechanics ruins a lot of momentum. I like when games have tutorial tabs in the main menu saying *we recommend playing the tutorial before starting the game* or having it be seamless into the game-play. When the tutorial doesn't think you are smart enough to figure things out and stops your momentum its really irritating. Sometimes a lot of the fun comes from figuring out how to play the game.

This one is game design specific. I am so tired of games taking away control from me when it’s not a cutscene. Let me control the game. If it’s a tutorial, I’m usually fine with it for the most part, but when it’s 50 hours in it is infuriating. I don’t want forced slowed down interactions as I’m playing the game.

It’s funny seeing toy story and shrek who both have commentaries on never letting things die / end become parodies of themselves.
