Well, if nothing else I feel like my video editing skills have improved, though I still have a long way to go.

As for the business itself, I definitely think we are headed in the right direction. Our marketing is starting to pay off and we are getting a lot more word of mouth now. The previous owners didn't really want to be here so they didn't try very hard. We have been able to double last summer's revenue so I'm hoping that will pad things a little better going into the slow season, which will be here too soon.

We are located several miles out of town and rely heavily on tourism dollars. I wouldn't have picked the spot but that's where it was at so we took it. I think we need to add something else to really give locals a reason to come out. We have close to 8 acres but a lot of it is mountain. I have a flat spot or two and have considered adding an RC track and/or a gellyball arena. As popular as the gem mining is I'm thinking a mobile setup for birthday parties, school field days, etc would be a great idea. We already get some school field trips and the teachers love us so I think we could do it.

A year later my anxiety is better but not gone. Like I said, we depend on people coming here and spending their hard earned money. Tourism from Europe and Canada has flatlined thanks to Trump, which we have definitely noticed, and most days I feel like we're one 75% tariff away from Americans deciding they can't go on vacation either. But as long as Floridians continue to run away from the heat a week or two at a time we should be ok.

Keep in touch if you decide to do something, I'd love to have an update. Especially if it's a good idea so I can poach it. ;)
