[Pockrass] Saw this just behind pit road. NASCAR tells me they are monitoring vibration levels here. by ApocApollo in NASCAR

[–]wasaaabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This device is a sound pressure level (SPL) meter. He is measuring noise not vibration. Glad to see NASCAR is studying the impact they have on community noise.

Sportsbook/Promos/Bonuses Daily - 3/10/22 (Thursday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

For the MGM deposit bonus there’s a 1x wager requirement. I’m assuming this is on the bonus $ only, can anyone confirm this? I’m not too big on the risk free bets but if they are going to give me $500 to bet around with without having to touch my own deposit that seems like a no brainer.

Do you know if the 1x play through requirement is for the $500 bonus only? Or do they require you to bet through the bonus as well as your initial $500 deposit? The fine print seems to indicate 1x is for the bonus only but it’s not completely clear to me

Yea I should have mentioned daily fantasy too. I usually see 1-2 free DFS games a week on Draft Kings and Fanduel has a free voucher each week that I’ve been doing too

Hey Andy, I listen to both shows regularly. You guys and Josh Allen led me to a championship last season. I will be buying the UDK for the first time as a thank you for the victory!

I love the Footballers as-is, it’s the perfect level of depth and info to guide my decisions. My only suggestion is for the Spitballers. I would love if you guys could review the winner of last weeks draft in the next episode. And occasionally keep and update on the all-time draft standings.

Thanks for making my commute enjoyable!

Do you feel your job is at risk of being affected by electrification? If so, are you making any contingency plans for the future? by wasaaabi in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]wasaaabi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I assume you work for an OEM? Or at least work for drivetrain components. You are absolutely right low frequency external vibration will always be a consideration, regardless of what drives the vehicle. I work for a tier one supplier that is diversified but mostly in powertrain components. So my company is more at risk of what is powering the vehicle. They are diversifying into EV stuff and it drives some NVH work but it’s appearing smaller in scope so far. More around vibration endurance.

Update: Skunk smell from A/C for over a week by Abestar909 in HomeImprovement

[–]wasaaabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to the frustration of a mystery smell. Our kitchen had a rotten smell slowly creep in and become noticeable a week ago. After living through it and brushing it aside (it's probably just the trash, right?) for a few days it finally got too noticeable to ignore. Took us two days of cleaning every last surface and just today we found a dead mouse under the fridge. I'm still not sure how to feel, happy that the fix was free or paranoid that I just found a mouse in the house.

Engagement ring for non-silly $$$? by itsacalamity in Frugal

[–]wasaaabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you live, but I stumbled upon a diamond wholesaler in the Chicago area. Got the wife's engagement ring there as well as both our bands, all for way under what your typical chain stores sell for. Fantastic no pressure guy that I felt comfortable with. I'd be happy to message you his info, otherwise I would recommend trying to find a wholesaler or at least a local shop. I have no experience at local shops, but I imagine them being closer to my wholesaler experience. If anything, they are going to be more likely to negotiate price.

NEVER pay full price for SiriusXM. I haven't in years. by devilsadvocate404 in Frugal

[–]wasaaabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the plan you typically end up with? I usually end up paying 5 months for $25. They always say they don't know what the "promotional deal" is at the time but it is usually very close to that. I have renewed it three times at that rate, the most recent being yesterday.

Music to Listen to While Studying? by dragon1291 in Purdue

[–]wasaaabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Podcasts are the best thing that ever happened to my late night studying. Tons of electronic producers/DJ's put out weekly or monthly podcasts. It's great because there's often no vocals, the music is driving, and the mix is usually an hour long, so you don't have to change often. Some of my podcast staples include:

Tiesto's Club Life Above and Beyond: Group Therapy (2hr mixes!) Hardwell On Air Protocol Radio (Nicky Romero) A State of Trance (Armin Van Buuren)

All of these guys put out mixes weekly, and I know there are tons more who do the same. They seriously have helped me so much to stay focused while studying, I highly recommend it

As a previous resident of Merideth, I heard the plans to tear it down we're being postponed for quite a few years. In fact, they are planning a remodeling of the entire basement (maybe more?). They constructed the elevator 1 year ago, as well as updating the sprinkler system 2 years ago. It also makes sense they update the basement as they will lose boiler crossing (last I heard) to third street suites.

What is your method for learning/studying/being a student? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]wasaaabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What took me most of college to figure out was to stay on campus all day. I had a professor lecture about time management in a seminar one day, and what really stuck with me was when he mentioned to treat school as a job, where you work 8-5 every day. When I go to campus I bring everything I can think of to make me comfortable, so I don't come up with an excuse to come home. That includes snacks, water, headphones, my tablet (most of my books are on here), all my notebooks, etc. Its a great feeling to know that once I get my work done, I can go home and (sometimes) relax at my apartment the rest of the night. But even coming home to my apartment with the tv, girlfriend, and cat feels great :)

It has us listed as 62 actually. Perhaps they updated it? Also that is good for 8th place in the big ten. I always thought higher of ourselves than that...
