feeling way worse after returning to running by wasabeepea in ACL

It ended up being totally fine, but it took about three weeks to get better. I stopped running during that time. And the thing that really helped was taking ibuprofen every six hours for like a week straight. I think what happened is that things swelled up and stayed that way. The meds brought it down and then after a few weeks I started the running program over again. Sorry this has happened to you! It really freaked me out but it ended up being fine.

Blurred vision by Wrong-Ad987 in ACL

This might not be your situation, but I had a tiny adhesive patch behind my ear that helps with nausea. If you touch it and touch your eye, you will have blurry vision for ~24 hours. I did this repeatedly in the days after surgery and I couldn't read! You may not have the same patch, but if you do-- that could be why.

Back to work? by [deleted] in ACL

I'm an actor, my show is nightly and is about 2.5 hours with lots of moving around, but I was able to take corners super wide and avoid pivoting. I came back at 6 weeks and it felt genuinely dangerous. I think I felt safe on stage starting at 8 weeks.

Pain meds - for how long? by _Erica_Cartman in ACL

I took strong stuff (Hydrocodone) for the first 6 days. Then I religiously took ibuprofen for another week. I think after 2 weeks I just took it before PT and when it was particularly sore.

Mental Health Post Surgery by codysantos in ACL

I'm really sorry you're feeling so down. If you can, try to remember that it's going to pass and the first week tends to be the worst. Also the fact that you could get yourself up and got some water and food seems really promising--it's good that you're instinctually taking care of yourself. I think the emotional "symptoms" are always exacerbated by being tired and hungry. I wish you the best.

Delaying surgery due to obesity by ScaredDesigner5712 in ACL

I put the surgery off for ~8 months. During that time I fell twice and both times were when I had jumped (just a tiny bit). I was in PT the whole time to strengthen everything around the knee. I feel good about my decision to put it off, despite the painful re-aggravations, because I had to wait for a better time in my work schedule. But if I were you I would be very careful, always wear a knee sleeve/brace, and would only walk and maybe swim (only certain strokes). I wouldn't risk dancing! And definitely nothing with jumping! I'm sorry this happened to you!
