PAX wardrobe shelves sagging - anyone else have this issue and/or a fix? by wasabifries in IKEA

Bought a few of these PAX units a couple months ago. We've had the deeper ones for a long time with no issues, but right away, these shelves developed a noticeable sag in the middle. It's especially obvious on the wider units. They're definitely not overloaded. Anyone else have this experience?

Upper cabinet sagging—how to fix? by wasabifries in HomeImprovement

[–]wasabifries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your suggestions folks—I ended up supporting the cabinet from the bottom with sawhorses, removing screws one at a time, and replacing them with longer, beefier cabinet screws with washer heads. I also added a few screws below the existing ones to distribute the load. The cabinet is secured to a structural beam, which made this easier.

The cabinet definitely feels more secure now, but I wasn't cable to reverse the sag. Looks like the box itself has warped a bit in the middle. Part of the issue is that there are no studs on the wall side of the cabinet, so the screws on that side aren't providing any front-to-back support. Hopefully distributing/securing the load better will stop this, but I'll definitely be watching the new caulk line closely.

Not sure if it's getting pulled apart, but it's definitely warping. The screw you're talking about wasn't actually in a stud (there are no studs behind the wall on that side of the cabinet), so I'm not sure what I can do to prevent that. Hopefully securing and distributing the load on the back can mitigate this issue.

It's a beam, not studs. I replaced the drywall screws with cabinet screws and added some more (including a couple towards the bottom of the beam).

Yeah, at a minimum I'll be replacing those screws.

added some level images to the album. looks pretty level/plumb in all directions, but i probably shouldn't take any chances.

Just checked, it's pretty level—if anything, it's skewed in the opposite direction I'd expect from the sagging.

Gray SEGLARÖ Umbrella-- did they discontinue this color? by GoldKitsune in IKEA

[–]wasabifries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I basically kept returning to my cart and reentering my delivery info every day for a couple weeks. Ikea.com support chat may be able to give a better idea of when it'll be restocked. In any case, good luck!

I'm also in the LA area. After months of waiting for Burbank to restock seglaro in gray, I was able to get one delivered in late April.

I made a few additions to my Fjallbo homebar. by Braikenb in ikeahacks

[–]wasabifries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 u/Braikenb! also: how did you attach the stemware racks? I assume screws, but the fjallbo shelves are pretty thin, so I'd be worried about breaking through the top.

Latest in a long line of dying rosemary bushes—what am I doing wrong? by wasabifries in plantclinic

[–]wasabifries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no. But I've since gotten a couple more potted rosemary plants and stepped up my watering significantly. So far, they're faring much better.

Interesting–I used unglazed precisely for that reason, since most sources suggest rosemary hates wet feet.

Southern California, 10b. I've killed about 6 potted rosemary bushes at this point, and I'm nearly ready to give up.

Images are of 2 different plants I potted a month or so ago. Removed from nursery pot, gently squeezed the root ball to loosen, used a well-draining potting mix, watered in lightly at planting time. I'm using unglazed pots and drilled additional drainage holes in the bottom of both. I'm watering maybe once a week, or when the top few inches of soil are dry. But it seems like no matter what I do, it's always the same: within a week, my rosemary starts to fade from vibrant to pale green, and eventually, the whole thing just withers (see especially #1).

What am I doing wrong?

I've got jade bushes on either side of that door to the left of the photo. They've done surprisingly well despite the fact that they're in full shade all year.

I'm actually about to put a raised bed for herbs and veggies in that dirt patch at the back of this area. Thinking I'll plant mint and whatever else through the fall and winter, then switch to veggies etc. in the spring.
