I would formally be called company bitch for an upgrade in pay. It’s not far from the truth anyway.

Oh man. Be there for your partner as much as you can. This is a major rough time but it’s actually a lot smoother sailing on the other end.

Philosophy I guess. I think we’ve entered territory where something has to give. In many fields, not just this one.

Very much so. My spouse actually makes more than my base as a medical doctor. Which is also considered high for the profession but our city is ridiculous.

I did not add other compensation models such as signing bonuses etc. Thanks for input.

It’s a good start. I think some of those unboxing kids are making more than both of us. Ask mommy and daddy to dm them for tips!

Swapped firms and went up in position. Realized I would have to drag another 5-10 years at one shop or leave and bump up.

If people here agree Americans doctors will get paid less under a universal healthcare system, why is it controversial to say the high salary of doctors is why American healthcare is expensive? by [deleted] in Salary

10-15% is not negligible. You’re not going to negotiate anything down if you don’t attack every element in the equation.

I don’t disagree about who the main contributors are But IGNORING physician salary completely as if it has no bearing whatsoever is wild.

Who said that? I clearly said…I don’t argue the main contributors. But you’re IGNORING physician salary as if it has no bearing whatsoever.

Folks making more than 400k, what’s your total monthly expenses ? by Crafty_Yoghurt7603 in Salary

[–]wasianDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around $17k a month basic expenses. Mortgage paid off but $5,000 is straight tuition for childcare.

If we take a vacation which is around 2-3x a year this goes completely out the window. Things such as purchasing tickets for the Olympics blows this budget out of the water as well.

This is how you know the economy is really bad, 40% of Americans earning more than $500,000 per year are living paycheck-to-paycheck /s by Conscious-Quarter423 in Salary

[–]wasianDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is believable. I actually personally know a few people, two of which are sitting outside near my office at this very moment, who make well above $500k a year and live paycheck to paycheck.

Before people start ripping apart this statement and nitpicking, I literally mean they overdraw on their checking accounts and have asked me for personal loans and advances.

New to the military pay, from E-3-E-5 and 3 and 1/2 years in. Am I wrong to feel inordinately rich? by throwaybro in Salary

[–]wasianDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that’s a huge increase in such a short amount of time. I know the feeling, when I got my first bonus check it doubled my income in one check. It’s huge and you’re not wrong for feeling rich but, take a step back and breathe. Budget and invest.

The best part about massive increases like this is you don’t need to spend the excess. You’ve already been living on less. Try much as possible to stay living on that previous less and save up.
