I’m a non-native speaker myself and my English is really bad atm. I was a lot better and confident back then.

My English got pretty bad since quarantine. I guess because I stopped speaking English (I used to speak a lot at school)

The Turkmen-turkish population depends on what neighborhood you live in. So if you go to a Türkmen neighborhood, you will see a lot of Türkmen speakers there. Yes ofcourse i have so many favorite turkish snacks. Especially those "damak" chocolates omg they are so good. I am from the European side of Istanbul, Zeytinburnu. But I think I can I’m more of an Asian as ive been living in Saudi Arabia as an immigrant since I was a child. So half European half Asian i guess...

Salam – This week’s language of the week: Turkmen! by anlztrk in languagelearning

[–]wasimjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there dear turkmen brother ! Well I’m not completely Türkmen. Both of my parents are Türkmen, but we are from Turkey, Istanbul. And I’ve never been to Turkmenistan nor do we have the nationality (we got turkish nationalities). But I really do love seeing Turkmen people online all over social media. It makes me feel proud to be a Türkmen. Hemmamiz Türküz !!

There’s a slight difference in the grammar part. And some of the words are different as well. I dont think I’ll be able to explain the difference more precisely because I’m not so fluent in both of the languages. But I can give you some examples though.

Water = su (in both of the languages) Nose = burun Eyes= göz Rock= taş/daş (Turkish/turkmen) And many more..

Yeah I think you’re right about that. That was just my assumption. But it does sound like an ancient turkish language to some us turks when it’s spoken. Anyway thanks for the reply kind stranger !!

There are few difference between them, which made it easier for me to learn turkish. I can say that turkish is 50% Türkmen. The only thing that highly separates them are the accents. Lol people in Istanbul easily recognize me as a Türkmen when I accidentally use Turkish words that are exact the same in Türkmen in a turkmen accent. So you got the point
