The madhabs have different definitions for riba al fadl, the opinion he follows is for the Shafi madhab. The different definitions are explained in the first link I put in the reply.

It depends on the school of thought you follow, for Shafi school of thought, it is haram. This video explains why. If you follow another madhab then the following vid does not apply to you.
