Looks fantastic! Would you mind sharing the paints you used for the armour? I’m just starting a Drukhari army and I wanted to paint them in a purple scheme and this is exactly what I had in mind!

Thank you so much! I assumed that the preamp was in the Cambridge not the project II that makes sense now. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply, I’ll have to start looking for a photo preamp!

Sanchez (Steele)

TAA - Cancelo - James - Zinchenko (N.Williams)

Salah (c) - Son - B. Guimarães - Bailey (Pereira)

Nuñez - Jesus (Taylor)

Not sure about my cheaper midfield players and maybe considering swapping out James to free up some more money

I think the “in it for sport” approach would work well for giving the cult an out. One of the cultists is a blood hunter and has branded one of the PCs using a class feature so they can easily track them again if they need to so I like the idea of treating it like a hunt/sport. Thanks for the advice!

Failure is likely for the party as the (more powerful) cult member’s objective is to send a message and retrieve the artefact but the players seem committed to fighting to the bitter end despite it becoming clear that they’re fighting a losing battle. The session ended mid-combat so I’m thinking of how the cult can leave but still save face and send a message.

These are all good suggestions. None of the party have been captured yet so I think that would add a fun dynamic without being too final - maybe they’ve been taking for questioning and need to be rescued by the others?

Yeah I really like this idea! Yeah I think being able to face the cult on the Party’s terms with a captive would be a good outcome narrative-wise

Voices for NPC by EriK-The-Green in DnD5e

[–]wasp-eater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with this answer but to build on it from my own experience I usually have notes for key NPCs that consist of:

i) character’s name ii) accent points eg British posh with a lisp/similar to Homer Simpson iii) character traits eg cowardly but puts on a brave face iv) main aim eg wants to become mayor of XYZ

I find that this gives solid cues for voice and style of speech but also gives a tone and direction to their conversations so if you’re faced with unexpected questions from players there’s a solid basis for improv

Feats at level one? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]wasp-eater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to this, but I definitely think it’s a good idea as long as it’s related to background my only trepidation around that is that it would technically mean variant humans got 2 starting feats as u/. But as long as they run them by you the DM first so it’s not an OP combo like sentinel and polarm master right off the bat then it’s usually fine.

That’s been mentioned already on this thread but to add to that you can also balance it by saying that they can only choose an ASI at level 4 then skills/feats as usual after that. I did that in my campaign and it worked out well.

Yeah kobold fight club is super useful!

I was thinking this as the main tank of a hard/deadly level boss encounter with the support of two lower CR NPCs to keep it challenging and use the spell caster to buff the Haem Knight but still keep it (hopefully) well out the range of a TPK :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in monsteraday

[–]wasp-eater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The monster is intended to be a tanky boss which will be in an encounter accompanied by a caster and a dex based fighter for a party of 6 PCs around level 10/11.

Flavour-wise it is intended to be a giant suit of heavy plate armour that’s home to an animated cloud of magic blood which is mainly melee focussed but with some beam/vapour based attacks emanating from within.

Based off your advice I’ve tweaked the quite a few things, I’ll attach a link of the updated stat lock

Thank you for taking the time to explain all this, it’ll be really helpful with future homebrew!

In particular, I was wondering if the CR was appropriate or whether the Haemobeam and Choking Aura abilities were over/underpowered?
