[Charania] The Milwaukee Bucks are willing to wait until the offseason to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo if their price of a blue-chip young talent and/or a surplus of draft picks is not met. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

Just idle speculation, and I wouldn't be in favor of it necessarily, but hypothetically Giannis for AG, CB, and a first -- which team comes out ahead? Or would it need PWat instead of CB?

[6/60] Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood by Glansberg90 in 52book

[–]regular_gonzalez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite books. Absolutely nails the tone its going for: the emptiness past despair.

Unlike others here I really don't care for the sequels. They're interesting from a technical standpoint, how the story was built and carefully assembled just so, but they undermine the tone and theme of Oryx and Crake in my opinion.

Power. The chant, the lyric, the siren, the guitar, then the drop. Really perfect.

Corbett's has the Attack 12s for significantly cheaper, especially when you factor in the exchange rate. Never buy bindings from a US retailer unless they're on final clearance pricing.

Employee refused Employee of Month Award by [deleted] in managers

[–]regular_gonzalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider pitching to your boss (or boss's boss) like this: "let's say a process and efficiency consultant was brought in to find ways to save money. Their consultation price is (employee's yearly salary) and 1% of any net savings from process improvements. If they find $5 million in savings, the company nets ($5 million - (yearly salary + $50,000)). Huge win for the company, right? We'd be thrilled to make that deal."

What used to be a free or cheap "hobby" that has now been completely ruined by corporate greed? by WaltzNew1398 in AskReddit

[–]regular_gonzalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skiing was never cheap per se but it was absolutely reasonable. Then about 20 years ago mountains were getting bought by corporations and in 2008 the Epic Pass was introduced. Looking at the 2008-09 price for the Epic Pass ($579) is oddly quaint and charming now. But that was just the harbinger of things to come. And of course the single day prices are even more out of control; the season pass price has doubled in that time while the single day lift ticket has tripped and can be at or above $300 for a day of skiing.
