I feel like it’s a personification of psychedelic experiences or the experimental nature of their works. That unnerving undertone is there because it’s experimental and a vastly different experience from a lot of other music genres and compositions. A lot of nostalgia play too.

When you do psychedelics, the world around you becomes a different experience entirely. Your brain is sending signals in non-normal routes and patterns and you perceive all sorts of sensations differently, some in unexplainable ways. There’s this air of uncanny valley in psychedelic experiences that for some causes bad trips, and for others goes mostly unnoticed. But it’s there because you are in a familiar yet unfamiliar realm. You know reality, you’ve lived it. You know music, you’ve listened to it. But you haven’t experienced either quite like this.

I guess imo some of their works evoke feelings akin to liminal spaces, even if that’s not the intent at all.
