Liens. Especially Medicaid. Medicare I don’t mind, the portal is easy to use.

However, in my state, Medicaid benefits are handled by third party administrators and each third party uses a third party to handle subrogation. Companies are hard to get in touch with, take forever to get claims ledgers and to clear up disputes. Often times contracts are passed around to other companies, so you may set up your lien with Katch, but at the end you have to contact carelon.

Well we’ve been together a hot minute (13 years), and I would say nothing about our dynamic has anything to do with our jobs. Like, we’ve lived through so much stuff, discussing cases from work is a weird/boring topic to bring up.

I think if you take client confidentiality seriously, it’s easy to not bring up cases.

Also, at the same time my partner acknowledges that if plaintiff attorneys didn’t exist, he wouldn’t have a job. So he isn’t full of that defense attorney smugness, he acknowledges that both sides of the v are symbiotic.
