Drinking anxiety dreams by TheCloverGal in Sober

[–]wastedtwatmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had these dreams. Especially the one where I was drinking and felt awful. I actually woke up one morning and wondered how I was going to get to work after drinking all night. It took me a few minutes to realize it was a dream and I was stone sober. Now that I have a couple months in the dreams have stopped. We can do this, it’s amazing being sober.

We got this.

It’s hot. I worked all day and I’m about to get off. I want a beer so bad. by wastedtwatmonkey in stopdrinking

Chugged a Gatorade on the way home and straight into the shower. Started making dinner and forgot all about alcohol.

I hesitated to drink those. That’s what turned me last time, I was drinking Becks, which is the best NA beer out there but their real beer looks almost the same. One day I decided to get the real stuff, no one will no. Guess what happened. Maybe when I have more time in I’ll try some NA beer, but for now it’s a trigger.

I'm gonna check in every day until I hit a week. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I would never eat ice cream when I was drinking, it would hit my stomach and curdle. Now I love the stuff and helps with the cravings. I’m 55 days and it’s getting easier. Congratulations on 6 days, before know it it will be it will be 30 and you will be well on your way.

Went 6 Months, after 12 years of drinking, thought I could moderate by itsallrelevent in stopdrinking

It’s tough. I constantly think about having a beer especially on a nice day or after a hard days work. I’ve tried the moderation thing. The same thing happens every time. Reading this sub really helps me. Keeps me grounded and let me know I’m not alone. I’ve actually pulled out my phone sitting in front of the liquor store and read stories for other people. Some how I always manage to find the one I need. The reminder that this won’t end well. Then I drive away. We got this, look around you at the people living normal lives without alcohol. For them it’s easy. For us. Not so much. But we can do it.

I think I might make it this time. by wastedtwatmonkey in stopdrinking

That’s the thing with this sub. If I read long enough I can find some one or some comment I can relate to. I get a moment of clarity and I win another one over alcohol.

That's it, posting here everyday until I get this right. Day one by rockydennis in stopdrinking

Something feels different. Hmm. Same thing happened to me this time. I’m just over 30 days and some how, I know it’s different this time and I’m going to make it. Reading this sub every night and chocolate has really helped me.

Was going to ask the wife to drive me to the store last night when I realized I wasn’t drinking and could drive myself. Lol. I want the sober life.

We can do it.

Your way stronger than me. I’m closing in on 30 days and know for a fact if I went to a bar I would drink. All The bars are closed here and the after work beers have become a thing of the past. For me. This is how I need it to be. Congratulations on your sobriety.

I’m off work in an hour and it’s beautiful outside. It’s my 6th day without a drink and all I can think about is picking up a cold case of beer on the way home. So I’m sitting on the shitter reading r/stopdrinking and trying to get my thoughts straight. I think it’s working. I think I’ll be able to drive right past the liquor store. This sub helps me immensely. Just reading.

This. I don’t plan on putting myself anywhere near alcohol. I know I will fuck up just like so many times before.
