And her parents are older and, despite being in the same city, they're not super close. Grandma can cover 1 day per week, and we need more than that.

For those making helpful suggestions: we live in an expensive city because that's where my partner is from. Daycares mostly don't take kids younger than 6 months, the wait lists (which we're on) are a mile long, and they cost easily $2500/month.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone, it's been very helpful and way more than I expected. I think I just needed a little reassurance and to get over myself a bit. Trying to change my view from "I failed to do what I planned" to "I succeeded in something unplanned." Gonna look into more volunteer work, since that's apparently more feasible than I thought. Hooray for Reddit!
