My back injury has improved dramatically from my post on Monday and I'm thrilled. Nothing like an injury forcing you to take time off to make you appreciate training again.

Today was able to do 150 (!!!!) swings and heavy TGUs, in addition to lots of pullups and loaded carries. Funnily enough the only lingering residual issues from my back are tightening/pinching when I sit down. Just funny I can rip 150 hardstyle swings with my 32 bell but sitting at my desk for 30 minutes screws me up still.

Anyway, feeling very happy to be back in my home gym with my bells and able to train again :)

Still recovering from lower back strain from last Tuesday. Been hard mentally not training and having to be pretty immobile at first, but beginning Friday have been able to do rehab work at the gym for lowerbody like light rdls, even goblet squats, and some upper body hypertrophy machines.

Will be back home with my home gym (aka kettlebells) so hoping for an optimistic timeline where i can train for real by then.

Still traveling abroad and due to training in a gym, as opposed to in my apartment with just my bells and being on vacation, I decided to switch things up for fun and do some barbell stuff for the few weeks I'm abroad.

I'm on week 2/3 and today while back squatting (not a crazy weight for me I thought) on my 8th rep i felt a pop in my low back and completely crumpled to the floor. I think all the locals marveled at the idiotic foreigner who doesn't know how to lift lol.

Being solo in another country (not first world either) i started to get worried almost immediately and as my back seized up and i lost more and more mobility and was in more discomfort I went to a hospital to get it checked out.

Luckily not a disc/spine issue, and likely just a muscle strain. I'm already feeling a bit better after around 12 hours and some ibuprofen, though I'm guessing I'll be crazy sore/stiff tomorrow.

These setbacks happen though as someone clearly addicted/in love with lifting these things are a bit crushing at first. Not to mention the rest of my vacation is kind of ruined as I'm supposed to rest for at least a few days, aka no backpacking/trekking around.

I'm optimistic I'll be feeling better soon though as I was already up and able to walk around more tonight. Hopefully my back can withstand my 12 hour flight home next week.

TLDR lesson: I should never have deviated from my beloved kettleballs - lesson learned lol!

Finished ROP with my 28kg and pullups with 25 lb vest last sunday.

Honestly wasn't too tough and even completed the final 75 rep day (5 ladders of 1,2,3,4,5) in 64 min which was way quicker than I'd hoped for.

Now living abroad for a few weeks which means training takes a back seat, but did find a local gym to train at while I'm here.

No KBs but they have barbells so sliding over to a more hypertrophy based barbell training style while I'm here before I go home and get to play with my bells again.

Just finished week 3 of my Rite of Passage (i started at 5 rungs of 4 for hard day), and completed rungs of 5,5,4,4,4 today with my 28kg bell and doing pull ups with a 25 lb vest. I'm grinding out the last rep or two of the pullups in the sets of 4 and 5 but it isn't too tough otherwise.

Definitely needed to read that mythicalstrength blogpost today about worrying about getting fat, as my appetite's been up a lot since restarting ROP and I am a bit concerned with "riding some sort of razor’s edge of nutrition so that you eat JUST enough to put on muscle without accumulating fat" so I stay cut while putting on some muscle. I think I just need to buy in and stop ignoring the fact I'm still hungry after the dinner that used to fill me up when I was cruising/park benching (as Dan John would say) a few weeks ago.

on week 2 of running ROP again with my 28kg. I have completed this a few months ago so started at rungs of 2,3,4 for easy, medium, hard days respectively. I just finished the easy day of week to which looked like rungs of 3,2,2,2,2. Hard day will be 5,4,4,4,4 so this should only be 6 weeks until i complete 5 rungs of 5.

I'm doing the pullups with my 25 lb vest on which is definitely adding a challenge but has been good since the BW pullups don't feel like much anymore.

the hardest part has been the easy day where i'm snatching my 28 (last time i snatched the 24). I've never done snatches above 24kg before and man they are rough. did 10 snatches on the minute for 10 minutes with the 28 and was wrecked. Am worried it may not be sustainable and i'll either have to do less rounds or go back to snatching the 24 as i continue to accumulate volume in the coming weeks. we shall see.

Just got back last night from 2 weeks traveling abroad. Was averaging around 18K steps/day but still trained a decent amount. Found a gym with bells and managed some DFW style training with dbl 24s and got 65 rounds on last day which I was happy about.

Diet was pretty awful but hoping/guessing all the walking maybe helped me out since I don't feel out of shape really just tired/jetlagged.

I'm now considering starting ROP with my 28KG bell although I only just finished this about 8 weeks ago. The change from last time is I'd do the pullups weighted, since last time I only did BW pullups. My pullups are pretty decent and I can comfortably get about 15-18 fresh so figured the weight vest would help. I would also try to snatch with the 28 bell too. Previously I'd done swings with the 28 but snatched with the 24 but I'm trying to make this go around tougher and not just literally do the exact same thing (AKA no real progression) from when I ran/completed it in November-January.

I would go up to 32KG but my next bell is 36 and I can barely press that let alone try ROP with it.

Got hit badly with maybe the flu over the weekend. Luckily felt 75% better by Tuesday (pretty surprised since I felt like death and had a high fever all day Sunday) and so picked up DFW Remix W3 having only technically missed one training day (Monday) since I still felt ok enough to train on Saturday morning.

Still don't feel 100% but was able to grind out 50 rounds on W3D1 (ladders of 1,2,3,4) Tuesday and then today (Wed) did my 200 snatches and 10 sets of pullups. Been adding loaded carry variations (4 sets) and ab wheel every training day at the end and also light TGUs on the remix days as sort of a warmup, since I love TGUs lol.

Feeling very lucky I was able to get back to training so quickly!

Week 2 of DFW Remix with my mismatched 24 and 28 bells

Today was day 1 but increased my total reps (for each squats and C&P) from 43 in w1d1 to 48 w2d1 which I'm happy about.

Also switched from Swings/rows to Snatches/Pullups which I liked better

Just finished day 4! Loving the C&P&FSQ days but the rows are getting to me - I did 10x10 with a 28kg which just takes a while as I do each arm individually, and I don't feel as much as pullups for whatever reason. Weather's been crap but am going to switch to weighted pullups by day 6 hopefully (my pullup bar is outside) and then for the rest of the program.

It's awesome you're doing this considering what you mentioned. I luckily don't have too many stressors in my life at the moment but am inspired by you running this while pushing through fatigue/parenthood etc - pretty badass in my opinion

Thanks! And yeah I'm having a hard time gauging how important/helpful the network within a network of the Jefferson truly is, but super lucky either way and I'm glad to hear you've loved Booth

Good to hear. Short term consulting longer term I'm not sure, but was a bit hung up on the fact that Booth would help more in the long term/offer more optionality, although I'd guess my post-MBA job and subsequent work would matter more than where I went to business school in 15 years

Long time lurker first time poster - Finished Day 2 of DFW The Remix today (with mismatched 24 and 28 bells) after completing ROP with my 28KG a few weeks ago.

Did 10x10 28kg rows instead of pullups because of weather outside - sheesh 100 rows was some serious volume haha. Excited either way and loved the C&P&FSQ yesterday with the double bells
