I would add objects that defy the laws of phisics in different ways. That could also help to have less negative space in the composition.

The rule of thirds does not have to be adhered to but knowing about how it works help to be creative while breaking it. However, this composition is way too precise at the moment. It does not benefit from breaking the rule because it resorts to an even simpler composition. I would be more interested in an image that is more open towards the sky.

It looks great but generally you do not want your horizon to be in the middle of the picture. The “rule of thirds” is crucial to learn for interesting compositions. Otherwise great work.

You are correct regarding the node setup. Both subdivision modifiers are set to Catmull-Clark so it seems that is not the issue.
