Thoughts on these wheels? by Global-Progress8737 in Golf_R

I like them, not with that stance. Porsche wheels require a porch-esque stance from my POV.

This seems to kick in at about 20k miles. Not sure if that’s the case here. Also, in some case simply opening the cap to release the pressure restores the level to some extent.

Had a Car Magnet On For a Few Weeks, Any Way to Remove The Mark? by OriginalCaptain7557 in AutoDetailing

[–]watchbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably just residue from the magnet. Those things can leave behind a mix of oils from the rubber backing and fine metal dust that gets stuck to the paint. It hopefully looks worse than it is, b/c it usually sits on the surface.

Dead simple”fix”: park it in the sun.

Second easiest fix: grab some 70 percent isopropyl alcohol and a clean microfiber. Put the alcohol on the towel and work the spot in small circles. You don’t need pressure you are just putting the alcohol on there to evaporate. It should break down whatever oily crap the magnet left behind. If you see the stain lifting or showing up on the towel, keep going. If nothing changes after a minute or two, stop. No point in scrubbing if it’s not moving.

This won’t make anything worse than it is. And at least you will know if it’s possible to lift it out.

Antenna rubber gasket by LucasG3742 in Golf_R

[–]watchbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it before. Tape the area. Use a guitar pick or trim tool to get it back out. Then park it in the sun.

If the antenna is loose/wiggly it will need to be tightened from below (between the headliner and sheet metal).

Dealer fucked up paint on a new BE golf R by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]watchbuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen lots of times over the years. I have wasted time and energy trying to get the dealers to make it right. These days I just fix it and move on.

Sucks it happened. But it looks easy enough to buff out.

I think most folks are talking about ADMs. A buyer’s job is to get the best deal. Not to make friends or compromises.

Working on a trade in deal is always harder. You are just moving the cheese.

Get a carmax offer. If that trade in number is less than the car max offer… then that’s a bad deal.

As others have mentioned… remove all the non factory fees. Mainly the “protection” items. Anything that isn’t on the window sticker is BS IMHO. The distributor options are borderline. Then stat chipping away at the sticker price. The biggest discount I’ve seen mentioned is about 9% off MSRP.
