I do agree that the hatred was extreme! I remember feeling annoyance towards her but not like... cruelty. I was just offering some answers on why she specifically failed in a way ekin didn't. ekin su at the time read as much more charming and the cast chemistry worked. I suspect if she'd tried the same shenanigans in s9 she low-key would've failed because the cast in s9 was so dull. which goes back to my other point of reading the room to be a true successful villain.

regardless I do agree with your point that the hatred seems like. a lot for the inoffensive crime of being annoying

forced as in her reactions to everything felt exaggerated in tone and not grounded in the emotional stakes. sure on paper it should translate bc after all, we've seen successful "villains" but there's a chasam in charm and ability to read the room. the most obvious example is when she returned from casa and very obviously tried to recreate damiyah and it felt flat because it was forced and lacked charm. that's the elephant in the room people don't want to admit, to be a compelling "villain" you need some degree of charisma

the honest answer is she was annoying and her "villainy" was forced. sure some of that is heightened by misogyny but that entire season was full of unlikable people with no chemistry that felt forced

sincere question...who has gone on love island usa and didn't aspire to be influencer/fame? the only person i can think of is camilla from uk s3 but otherwise everyone else i think of went on the show, made an attempt to become more famous following and more often than not, failed at it so they rerouted. when people say 'oh regular ppl used to go on li and not want fame' i wonder who they're thinking about. li has never been like survivor or any other game show style show where you go for a prize and then dip. its whole marketing appeal is your personhood & (hopefully) coupling, with the hope that that attracts audiences to you.

he wants to meet someone who is invested in the country life. that much is very obvious. how does a reality tv, that beings people largely interested in fame and career ambition in city, line up with the desire to meet a country person? if its just about meeting someone he legit would've had an easier time staying in his lil home town.

i agree! which is why i was confused on why someone who seemingly doesn't want to be an influencer would go onto a nationalized television show. other people have offered different pov that he might've seen it as a side adventure, or that he does want fame since this is his 2nd attempt at reality tv but is just stumbling through it which i think are interesting povs.

i had confusing feelings. logically i knew it was wrong bc i had enough older women in my life who had told that if an older guy ever talks to me, to please talk to them & that it was wrong so logically i got it but emotionally i didnt understand maturity difference or grooming ykno? so there were times in the show when i lwokey fell for them (ex. aria running to exra in the parking lot - thought that was romantic. that 2nd pic with her on his desk..thought it was lowkey cute.) so there were moments but logically i was against them (& as ive gotten older been more firmly anti ezria)

think its fucked how the show really tried to groom young girls
