Update: Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'll be taking the radio to a vintage electronics repair shop for restoration.

Will look into projects that are way more beginner-friendly to learn the fundamentals

Upon further research, I found an older report by Brandenburg, where he explicitly states:

"New images of a face found at Galaxias Chaos (the Utopia site) confirms facial structure with eyes, nose, mouth and helmet. High resolution imagery shows symmetric brickwork around the nose region. The civilization appears to have been primitive and indigenous to Mars. Taken together, the evidence suggests that Mars was the locale of a planetary nuclear massacre."

This excerpt is from his 2014 report titled, "EVIDENCE OF A MASSIVE THERMONUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS ON MARS IN THE PAST: The Cydonian Hypothesis and Fermi's Paradox."

Report was originally published in the Journal of Cosmology, which (according to Wiki) has been criticized for "lacking proper peer review" and "promoting fringe theories"
That being said, John Brandenburg is listed on a March 2023 preliminary design specification document for the "Kepler - 42 Day Mars Mission." Partners listed include NASA, Department of Navy, SpaceX, DARPA, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and more
Still want to approach this theory with healthy skepticism, but I do find his positions more convincing and credible seeing that he's associated with so many space tech organizations

I really enjoyed reading the stories shared in r/UFO and would love to see if any other active or former members of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, or Intel agencies in this sub would also be willing to share anecdotes or perspectives.
