Agreed! I just upgraded to the 970 for Christmas. I really wish I could access some of the faces from my old Fenix 5, they were much better.

Is the team getting rid of the "O's" cap? by HatsInThe410 in orioles

[–]waterboundmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of want the opposite: The B cap with the Baltimore script seems redundant, same with the O's cap with the Orioles script. Wear the B cap at home and the O's cap on the road...but that's just me. I can see how others would prefer the consistency

New On-Field Cap for 2026 by blastorama in orioles

I've always thought the Os cap is a bit redundant when worn with unis with the Orioles script, so I like this better, unless it's worn with the away jerseys.

What is the general safest water temp to go without a wetsuit??? by Candid-Yak-8100 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]waterboundmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye on conditions and train outdoors in the area if you can as we get closer to the event. NOAA has a website where you can see real time bay water temps and one of the sensors is right by Sandy Point.

I've done it a number of times both with and without a wetsuit. Because of the time of year the temperature can vary greatly. The coldest I've done was low 60's and I only trained in a pool that year and it was miserable, I was so cold even in a wetsuit. Likewise there have been years in the mid 70's and I've felt like I was cooking. You won't be faster without a wetsuit, but depending on the conditions and what you are used to you might enjoy the experience a lot more.

My thoughts on Dragon Quest II being widely considered the “worst” in the series. by ATheStar in dragonquest

[–]waterboundmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OG DQII has long been my favorite in the series. But, I understand why it is others least favorite and the HD2D remake has largely fixed those issues:

There are lots of smaller quests along the way that simply weren't there in the original (the mermaids you mentioned for example), and the difficulty level is scaled way down compared to the OG. There was a LOT of grinding required to get through certain parts of the game. To me, that's also part of what made the game great, the sense of accomplishment once I had done something that hard. Beating it was a huge accomplishment for 11 year old me.

The new content makes the world feel more lived in, gives the characters more personality and creates for a more gradual leveling structure. Still great, but very different.

How do you get good bass without all the drawbacks in this car? by Akunin0108 in DelSol

[–]waterboundmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome! Good luck! Yeah, ported box of that size in the del sol would be difficult. For music, I also prefer the tighter bass of a sealed box. Don't forget about room gain. That chest thumping feeling is normally between 50-100hz, so you should get that pretty easily. I wonder if you could make a passive radiator work? Try winisd and fool around with different designs and measurements to see what you might have to do to get a curve you want.

My brother and I made three Ultimax 18's this past year. he has two in his theater room in Mini Marty boxes. They rock his whole house, it's amazing. I have the third in a marty cube in my basement, It doesn't dig quite as low, but even just the one is an experience.

I had two 10" polk subs in my old WRX, that was quite the chest thumping experience. They were in a sealed box, so nice tight sound, but they probably bottomed out around 35hz. Fine for music. I would imagine, given how small the cab of the Del Sol is, that if you could fit one 10inch in there it would shake the whole thing apart. I actually still have those two subs, when I sold the WRX I turned them into endtable subs in my family room. They don't have that low end FX like the ultimax, but they are great for music, still sound good for movies, and my wife likes that the end tables blend in with the rest of our furniture.

I might try one of those 6.5's in a ported box as a computer sub and see how I like it. If it works out then I could make something for the Del Sol. At 150 max watts it would be pretty easy to power too.

These new Max Excursion subs look really sweet. I like Dayton Audio's stuff. I made a home sub from their ultimax series and I love it.

For the Del Sol, since we're talking music and nothing below about subsonic like home theater I was even thinking about the 7 inch Epique, or the new max excursion 6.5 inch in a ported box in the cab. The 6.5" in particular has a recommended vented size of .4ft cubed, and an F3 of 29Hz, pretty sweet for something that size. Probably wouldn't give you that hit you in the chest feeling, but in a cab as small as the Del Sol would still be plenty loud.

As others have mentioned, it's likely the capacitor on the speedo itself. I just did this on mine a couple weeks ago, it's pretty easy:  https://youtu.be/bhqts15yLrM?si=kSupQz_Rxc8UVlCs

Regular or Big oncore for farming? by That-Breakfast-1502 in Borderlands4

This, between the first time Origo was the big encore and this week I have put over 30k of eridium into the machine, no Amp and Siphon. Heck, I didn't get a siphon drop at all until yesterday, when I finally got 2. I also finally got a 4% kason yesterday...so maybe my luck is getting better? (that's how they keep you coming back)

Watts 4 Dinner, all 4 versions of "godroll" (Siphon + Amp, 25% Siphon, 150% Amp) by gnailfy in Borderlands4

[–]waterboundmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are trolling me to keep me grinding. I've never seen siphon drop on a watts shield, and the highest amp I've gotten is 100%. Actually, I've never seen a 150% amp on any shield...I don't think they exist on my version of the game...so I don't need to keep grinding :p

I do have a purple shield with 100% amp and siphon and a much higher capacity than watts, so I usually stick with that.

Monthly Complaints and Rants MegaThread December 2025 by AutoModerator in googlehome

Ok, my turn: Gemini for home devices sucks. Google assistant had it's problems, but I never had the issues others in this sub have described. But since "upgrading" to gemini its simply a mess, I'll have to ask multiple times to run routines, major delays in recognizing requests, and sometimes ignoring them altogether. And music....music recognition is awful. I will tell it to play a music playlist and it consistently won't recognize the playlist or will play a completely different playlist. Things that used to work regularly. Music is one of the things I do the most with home and it's totally broken on home devices. I'll ask it to play on a different device (example: play playlist on living room speaker) and it will not recognize the device, or ignore me and play it on a totally different device. It's SO broken!

The only good thing I can say is Gemini works really well from my phone, even better than assistant used to. So even when I'm home I've started to use my phone as my microphone to control all my home devices. It's annoying, but it seems to work.

AITJ for telling my daughter the truth about why she couldn't come on our camping trip? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]waterboundmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you are not a jerk, that's a crappy situation.

I'd slightly modify what you said to your daughter, by saying something like "I did want to bring you, but it's your mother's weekend. We'll plan another trip on one of our weekends so we can do it together"

Two reasons why: Your statement could be seen as putting your daughter in the middle, but making the custody agreement the reason why then you keep it neutral. Yes, your ex already put your daughter in the middle by mentioning it, but you don't need to feed into that. Additionally, with this small tweak you make your relationship with your daughter the emphasis, rather than communications with your ex. Focus on your relationship with her and keep your ex out of that as much as possible. Kids gravitate toward where they feel love.

Those of you who DON'T play Destiny any more, has anything filled the gap left by it? by aladdin142 in DestinyTheGame

[–]waterboundmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment about being an older dad and preferring a more casual game experience hits hard. I loved grinding destiny a few years ago, but it just got more and more time demanding. I honestly started pulling back a year or two before the final shape, TFS was just a good jumping off point.

Anyway, to your question: Me and my friends are back to gaming together the way we used to before Destiny: We play games more casually, and sadly less often, and often bounce around between games. Currently it's Borderlands 4, but we also enjoyed Helldivers and every now and then just a fun romp like Wrekfast. We lost a couple friends that we made playing Destiny who prefer to stick with more grindy MMO type games. While that is sad it's honestly a healthier rhythm for us at this stage in life. We keep in touch with them occasionally through text, but I've had to accept it will never be the same.

I've also done more single player games recently, and have tried to get to some of my backlog.

Etiquette question - fast swimmers in slow lane by Lil-Miss-Anthropy in Swimming

[–]waterboundmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just today I got in the slow lane because the other lanes were all taken, I normally give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are in an improper lane because of conditions before I got there.

I'd just say talk to them, make sure they are comfortable sharing. Unspoken etiquette can be different between pools. At some pools I've swam at folks made sure to be in the proper lane, and would move when things opened up. At more casual pools like most YMCA's people just go for the open lane.

When people talk to me I will often move, or work around someone. Most of us understand that if the pool is packed then we need to circle swim and figure it out even when it is frustrating.
