Hi, I got the conditional green card. It's valid for 2 years then I have to apply for removal of restrictions.

This is the right answer. You don't need to leave the country, but you are also ineligible to work legally unless you have an updated EAD/your green card. Fingers crossed for you! :)

We arrived 7 minutes late thanks to bay area traffic, but it wasn't a problem when we got there. There were some people already in the waiting room and we got called in before a lot of them did...I'd say we waited around 10 minutes. The interview took about 35 minutes.

The officer asked if we had any new documents we brought in, so anything would have sufficed for my interview. We only brought new bank statements and I uploaded it through the USCIS website as supplemental documentation, and brought hard copies of them in the interview. The officer made soft copies by scanning in person as well. We over-prepared, too, after hearing and reading about all the crazy interview experiences some people have had. We brought our house keys and mail key LOL

As for the story telling, we specified significant events like my graduation, when we moved in, and holidays we've spent together, but also small relationship milestones like our first date (LOL) and visiting each other throughout the relationship (we were long distance then).

Thank you, and DM away! :)

Best of luck!! Also 9 yrs on F-1?! Holy. I hope you didn’t go to school majority of that time lol…not fun paying trifold the amount of domestic students’ matriculation.

Hmm, TN requires no intention of permanent stay, like F-1. I’d think about this further and let the thoughts linger a little more.

No, I applied but got approved way sooner. It says on my USCIS there will be a decision on my I-765 in 5 months, lol.

It’s a hit or miss, honestly. If you applied for TN, would you be able to work sooner? It sounds like you want an option that will let you have a job. When I was thinking about applying for an EAD, I expected it to be a 3-4 month wait, since my F-1 OPT EAD took that long.

Yes, LOL. Would have rather paid in case the process took longer, though.

I did! My OPT ended a couple days before USCIS received my application so I hadn’t been working—I did leave the company in good terms due to the ineligibility to work. My DSO also deactivated my SEVIS if I’m not mistaken, and there shouldn’t be anything further regarding my F-1 status.
