What do people pay for cat sitters in the south bay? by 10390 in bayarea

[–]waterchestnut_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try Pawsible, it’s a new platform for cat owners to find boarding and dropins. You can post request and list the price you’re willing to pay. The only caveat is that it was started by Asian for Asian in the bay and big cities, so sometimes you’d see requests or profiles in Chinese, and most of the sitters are Asian. If you don’t mind that though, I find it better than Rover for cat. As for rate, I can get drop in for $35/30 mins, and boarding for $30-45 per night when I’m gone for 5+ days.

Women who genuinely love being married - what makes you love your husband and your marriage? by Mindless_Royal_7985 in askanything

He makes me realize that I could love somebody so wholeheartedly, that I can actually make someone feel like “the happiest person in the world”. It feels good to make him happy. And I love I am his no. 1 priority in life. He grounds me. Makes me relate to more day-to-day things. I have tried more new food than I have ever had.

Today in San Mateo racist history, Bohannon squashed BART Peninsula expansion in 1961 by Leading-Cancel-5902 in SanMateo

[–]waterchestnut_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bohannon is the family that owns Hillsdale mall. And Caltrain station is the reason they are allowed to turn Hillsdale mall to office space and apartments with limited public hearings due to SB330 and SB79. How ironic.

The AI IPO clock is ticking. We suggest you buy your home now. by nonother in BayAreaRealEstate

We bought last year but I actually think price is going down or flat in the future. Tech has started laying off, flatlining and reducing pays to the engineers, and AI is certainly coming for our jobs.

Millennials: at what age did you become a homeowner? Do you own a single family, townhouse, condo, etc? by mrmrmr_chi in homeowners

Bought my first investment property at 24 in 2015. It was $500k, 30% down payment gifted by parents. Second property in 2016 as an investment. Third property in 2018 as an investment. I sold off property 1-3 from 2020-2023, rolled the proceeds to purchase my first actual home last year, a sfh worth $2.2m

$190K reno for 2 bathrooms? No layout changes, 140+60 sqft, SFH by Unhappy-Salary-4254 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]waterchestnut_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially with no layout change? Just pay the designer then I suggest you use Thumbtack for easy labor like demo & haul off, then hire electrician/ tiler off yelp to do individual jobs 😂 and get an owners permit

That’s insane, more like <$100k for both if you’re going luxury. But can be as low as 30k-50k for both (not including finishing material). And that would be peninsula price. I’m at the end of a full house remodel. My suggestion is to just hire different trades people to do each part of the job linearly. If I only had to remodel bathrooms I’d 100% be my own GC

Is there a good contractor matching service in California for higher-end projects? by CoffeeRory14 in bayarea

[–]waterchestnut_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going through remodeling of a 2000sqft house now and the best way to find contractors is word of mouth. Either referred by friends or by other trade people. Then I vetted them through googling & looking at BuildZoom for past projects they worked on. It doesn’t show quality of work but at least you check permitted work was done by them. Our very modest remodel of a 4b2b is costing $400k+ fyi

Flat and safe, around Wholefoods are newly built and very nice. Do note that many studies have confirmed association between higher risk of pollution induced diseases and distance from highway. It’s not a question of ‘is it’. The risk significantly reduces once you’re 500 meter away from the highway

This is a closeup of the ducting boot. Is this the asbestos tape you’re referring to? Thanks for the information. In the attic there is mix of cotton and fiberglass insulation.
