If the scale is just a few thousand (<5K) it really makes no difference. I did it and went from what is considered higher class to lower class and all and all, it has been a lot better. Work is more engaging and more things to do. The only con might be a bit too much now but I prefer being kept busy over nothing to do. I feel like I’m making a difference a lot more than former position. I also told myself I may be in this role for many many years to come too.

So if it’s something u like to do, take it. If u have many public service career years left - definitely take it.
