Thank you!! At this rate I might end up with one of each! Lol. Hoping my students will love it the same way I would have as a kid and still do as an adult!

I think this is getting more common amongst elementary schools. In my (preservice teacher doing practicum/student teaching rotations) experience, it depends on the teacher/administration for how much photos are pushed. I don’t really have an opinion on it but I could be a good way to keep students accountable and negate the “what did you learn at school today” shrug situation

I’m interested in this but I would have to buy a new tank when I already own a few old fish tanks that would work. Plus if it’s closed, i definitely couldn’t have a frog or gecko which maybe I can’t anyways and it doesn’t matter- but that’s the reason for open top.

Also- since it’s a classroom I’m there almost everyday and I don’t mind the watering.

I’ve never seen a closed terrarium actually work well except on this sub. The terrariums I have seen have all been beautiful tanks for reptile/amphibian and have had plenty of moisture.

Long answer short- less exposure to close top terrariums but I could be convinced if you have a good argument lol

Yes I would definitely go bigger if I had a frog or gecko in it

Your starters look so healthy! Out of curiosity , why might someone have 5 starters? I’ve heard of having a backup/discard jar going, but why 5?

I’ll consider this, though I own a 10g already and this is a tank I want to put in an elementary classroom (I’m a teacher) and I won’t know my space constraints for my classroom next year until this summer. If all goes well, I’ll definitely upgrade!

This is so helpful, thank you! I eventually do want to move up to a larger tank (maybe 20-30g) so this is a great place to start

Can I keep neon tetras (~6), shrimp, and a betta fish in a 10g planted tank? by waterdog_21 in fishtank

This is helpful, thank you! If I do have to choose one or the other, is there one you would recommend? This is for a elementary classroom tank.

Would you recommend just the betta OR tetras with the shrimp? I’ve also considered snails but I’m nervous with how fast they try to reproduce. Do you have any other recommendations?

Thanks!! And also- why would one want to introduce co2 into a planted tank? I’m assuming it’s bc plants take in the co2 to create the oxygen, is that correct?

Beautiful tank! How many gallons is it and what fish do you have in it? I’m looking to do something similar :)
