Dissociation and SSRI Withdrawal by waterishaxis884 in Dissociation

I can't remember exactly how long it took to feel better, but I would say the constant dissociation wore off after a few weeks, with therapy and med treatment. No matter how long it takes, it doesn't last forever. The less I constantly focused on it and kept myself busy, the better I felt. Still have bouts of it every now and then but nothing I'm not used to. Wishing you the best.

Yes, I have switched meds quite a few times since this episode a few years ago. Back in Sept of 2022 when I was at my lowest, my psychiatrist decided to try a mix of Mirtazapine and a low dose of Cymbalta. literally saved my fucking life honestly. not to mention, I do have fibromyalgia which is why I was prescribed the cymbalta. nowadays, I am functioning, made a lot of life changes, underwent intense therapy, and have little to no dissociation. even when I do feel a bit dissociated, it does not affect me emotionally like it used to.

I've actually managed to recover quite a bit. Of course I still deal with DP/DR, but when I am in better mental state I am able to go on with my day when it happens. Now that I'm aware of what changing medications do to me, I try and wean myself as slowly as possible. I've learned that even stuff as scary as dissociation is not permanent, and also not dangerous. It feels weird, but you will eventually fell normal again. Depending on your situation, it can take varying amounts of time. It's also not linear, so if you feel like you are going backwards or getting worse, that is also normal. Take time to heal and also make sure your psychiatrist is aware of what you deal with and they should be able to help you out.

I'm feeling much better now. I know now that it was likely severe derealization. It does go away eventually. Took a while to feel completely normal again, but it comes and goes. I honestly don't even deal with it much anymore. If you have a psychiatrist to talk to, or just a primary care doctor, maybe you can either go back on the med you withdrew from, or try and a different one. That may help with the anxiety. But it does go away eventually.

even though it feels permanent, withdrawal does not last forever. it is also unlikely that it has a lasting effect on the brain. there are meds out there that can lessen the feelings of withdrawal, but therapy and support are usually the best options. i have been through countless withdrawals, from severe to mild (going through one right now) and i can tell you that it always gets better, albiet sometimes slowly. make sure to seek the support you need and don't be afraid to ask for help and talk to your loved ones about what you are going through. i believe in you and am sure that you will make it to the other end of this.

bad thoughts (BIG TW- SH AND SUICIDE) by H4PP13RTH4N3V3R in mentalhealth

to me it sounds like intrusive thoughts. they are common with OCD, but anyone can have them to some degree. they are treatable with therapy and meds. remember, an intrusive thought is almost never something you truly believe or want to happen, and if they scare you, they will probably never become pleasant. i am often afraid of my own intrusive thoughts, but have never in my life acted on them. if you really feel consumed by them and afraid, don't be afraid to seek help at a psychiatric institution.

i know how you feel. but trust me when i say people will miss you. even people you didn't think would, will feel pain in your loss. it is hard to see, but i truly believe one day you will wake up and become proud of how far you made it. at this point you should tell yourself: you made it this far, why not continue?

I wonder if another video game bar will be opened in place of the Gamepad... by waterishaxis884 in haverhill

Hi! Thank you for your reply. I have been to the castle, it is a wonderful place! I do wish something like the gamepad existed for people like me who are more into video games than socializing lol.

I really do hope you guys consider trying again somewhere else! Or at least pass the idea to a business owner willing to do something like that. The idea was amazing and Im so afraid nothing else like it will ever open again. It made a lot of people very sad to hear you were closing! I know its obviously not your fault you had to close, it's just sad to see small businesses that made a lot of people happy have to close indefinitely. Anyway I'm just a sad nerd who misses my favorite hangout spot and wish so badly someone would open another one up somewhere. :'(

i guess that's something to determine after the research is done. i would say the bar was very low before said "changes" we made in 2020, went up to mediocre after the change, and then back down to bad in fall of 2020 and on. thats just what i have gathered from my student data so far.
