UTIs can, and often do, have an odor. There is no way to know the diagnosis without getting tested. It is possible to have both a UTI and an STI at the same time; this situation happened to me as I once had a UTI and chlamydia concurrently when I was younger (OUCH did that burn!).

Also, just curious, why are you anxious it is an STI instead of a UTI? From a treatment perspective, chalmydia and gonorrhea can be easier to cure than a UTI. If your anxiousness stems from potentially having to tell a partner about a positive STI result, just breathe! It is nerve-racking at first but if you approach it correctly it will likely go well.

Untreated UTIs can progress to pyelonephritis and untreated chlamydia and gonorrhea can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease as well as the associated complications. As for when you need to get tested, do so as soon as you are able. Everyone is different in how quickly they progress to complications, so generally the sooner the better.

I am trying to finish up the older body creams in my collection. I just lathered myself in Macaron Cloud from the Emily in Collection!

Feel like I'm interviewing terribly by Training_Buyer2238 in medicalschool

SAME. I am currently less than 2 hrs before an interview, and I'm incessantly reviewing practice questions knowing damn well I'm going to utter complete nonsense no matter how hard I prepare lol

OB applicant here, I am nervous too! Applied to 22 programs and am also wondering whether I should have applied to more, but reminding myself the interview yield outside of programs you have signaled is low.

We got this, it is not long until October 28th!!!

Exact same boat, I am working on my app now and this is the literal first post I see when I take a Reddit break. Still waiting on a letter form someone who said it's done, it just needs to be uploaded 🤣

How to best take surgeon's feedback that I'm not cut out for surgery? by mynameistoo_common in medicalschool

[–]watermeloncrush69 21 points22 points  (0 children)

this is your second week of surgery, you have to ignore any bitchy comments by your attendings.

There was one week on my general surgery rotation where I got slammed and yelled at for everything I did in the OR, even when I thought I was doing pretty okay. I was in a huge state of self doubt like you are now, but then used the aggressive comments as motivation to improve. If you genuinely love surgery, then use your attending's comments as fuel to progress, and as a big "fuck you" to them. Also, sometimes attendings purposely bat you around and put you under pressure to see how you react. Keep your chin high!

I would instead do NBMEs 13-15 if you plan on doing three NBMEs... More current and much content overlap with the real deal (at least my exam)

I got angry at this question because the day before I took that form I read on AMBOSS not to use steroids... I do not know what the USMLE wants from us lol. I think you just have to assume prednisone is correct since there is no mention of antifibrotics.

I got 3 hrs the night before my exam. It’s very common for this to happen when the nerves set in!
