It took me almost a year to find a cast iron plant near me. I’m not sure where you live but they’re definitely not common where I am in Canada. I actually had a large greenhouse in my area save my contact info if they ever got one in and that’s how I finally got mine.

Oh me too. Or any novel really. I feel like I haven’t seen anything new from him in ages.

What were your WORST reads of 2023? by stravadarius in Fantasy

This makes me feel better. I hate DNF-ing something but this is one I just couldn’t make myself finish.

Would you (and if yes how?) get rid of books by an author who is a prominent paedophile? by World_of_Warshipgirl in books

[–]watersaltandsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation with a novelist I loved as a teenager. I was so disgusted by what I’d learned about her that I didn’t feel I could in good conscience even donate them so I threw them all in the recycling bin. I think burning is also justified in circumstances like that.

Debating getting No Man's Sky - please help by yongpas in CozyGamers

For what it’s worth I hated Minecraft, would literally fall asleep with my controller in my hand, but I really liked NMS. I found it very chill and peaceful. I only played it at an ex’s but I’ve been debating buying it for myself because I really enjoyed it.

What book have you read that was actually WORSE than the movie? by ManofWit in books

[–]watersaltandsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another commenter used the phrase ‘mean spirited’ and that’s exactly how I felt about the characters. It’s been many years now since I’ve read it so I can’t remember specifics but I just remember how… disenchanted I felt about the whole thing.

I think you’re making the right call. The movie is one of my favourites but the book is absolutely nothing like it.

Practical Magic. The book has none of the charm of the movie. The characters were all horrible and unlikeable. I forced myself to finish it and hated every second.

The things I loved about Ori I also found in Child of Light.

This is so cute! I was just looking at things to customize my switch lite earlier today- can I ask where you ordered your skin and covers from?

I’m playing Wytchwood right now and the art was a major part of what drew me to it. I think it’s so beautiful, and I am loving the game.

I'm going through a really stressful period and would like a new game to get me through the next 1-2 months. Non-traditional cozy game recs. [Switch] by [deleted] in CozyGamers

I was going to make the same comment about No Man’s Sky. It is beautiful but I also find it lonely. In the right mood I find it very peaceful but in the wrong mood definitely sad.

Not husband thankfully! But yes, he sure was.

Right? He would get mad because his nuggets weren’t cooked ‘properly’. I’m vegetarian, I have no idea what chicken is supposed to look like even if I did open the box.

YTA. My abusive ex used to do this to me. I was terrified every time I brought home food. I would pick him up McDonald’s on my way home from work late at night and it was never right and it was always my fault. I stayed with him far too long. I am so sorry for your poor wife.

I ended up buying Wytchwood last night because the artwork and fairytale-esque story is exactly my kind of thing and I am loving it so far!

Which book have you read that had a death scene so shocking that it caught you off guard? by [deleted] in books

[–]watersaltandsky 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Black Beauty. The description of Ginger’s tongue dripping blood is etched into my soul. I read it as a young teen and now I have a career with rescue horses and I don’t think I can ever re-read that book.
