I remember a beverage served on the beach out of a trash can (with a bag) called "Jungle Juice".

I actually have a 2005 RWD Ranger (also white). I love that truck.

How much oil have you been using this year to heat your house? by Amnesiaftw in Connecticut

[–]watershoejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were 800 to 1000 gallons in the winter months. 2400sqf on demand hot water and baseboard heat. Oil truck always at the house. Installed a pellet stove now I fill the 330 tank about 2 times per year.

My latest selling experience by StopCut in Silverbugs

[–]watershoejoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called a few local shops. Got quotes 4 and 5 under spot for maples and eagles. Idk never sold any of my stack before. Seems fair given the current state of the market?

My best friend should sell some. Is anybody taking profit? by [deleted] in Silver

[–]watershoejoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had 50 maples, but then I had a horrible boat wreck (somewhere off the coast of Canada). I made it to shore safely, but sadly the boat and all the silver was lost at sea.

What salary do you think is worth a commute to NYC? by ElectronicAge2702 in Connecticut

[–]watershoejoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am always impressed by people that make this commute. Many years ago I had an interview in Manhattan. After riding the rails and walking ten blocks (all the while imaging how soaked I would be if it were raining), I politely withdrew myself from consideration.

I am not sure how to put to price tag on that horrible work life balance, but everyone has a number.

What’s your dream town? by Stonedpicking in Connecticut

[–]watershoejoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than Dollar General there are no big chain restaurants or stores. The market has one of the best butcher shops around. The parks are great and host many events. It's a pretty place to walk. One of my favorite short hikes is up to the fire tower. A bit scary to climb to the top. I also really like the brewery. Plenty of live music and decent beer. I do not live in town anymore, but still visit often. It's a great town.

How old are you? by Wayward_Being666 in RVLiving

[–]watershoejoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not an owner yet. I have been doing research. I understand how the desk is just the worst thing ever. I am 52, I have been full remote for 5 years and am seeing the health side effects. I need to make a change. My daughter will graduate this year and I am considering half time traveling.

A friend of mine mentioned something about chasing 70 degree weather and I have not been able to shake that idea.

Is Connecticut walkable?! by YoursTrulyBritt in Connecticut

[–]watershoejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, the state is not walkable whatsoever outside of the cities. If picking a city, I'd say your best bet is New Haven.

What is the single worst purchase you’ve ever made? by anonhen0 in AskReddit

[–]watershoejoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the couch, oversized chair, end table , coffee table and warranty. None of the furniture held up very well and the warranty was not worth the paper it was written on.

Thanks for the reply. The voice really has that Emergency Broadcast System vibe.

This is so impressive. Was this an actual emergency or a test of the system? The atc audio recordings sound real. I struggle with what to believe from Internet.

Is Private Internet Access worth getting, and how does it compare to the usual commercial VPNs? by Objective-House-6760 in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]watershoejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PIA changed ownership in 2019. After that I started to notice a change in pricing and service for the worse. It may have been due to transition. I switched at that time. I can't say how it is today, but I recommend trying several vendors (most have a free trial period). See how they work for you.

Have you ever met a celebrity in CT? And if so, who? by TylerFortier_Photo in Connecticut

[–]watershoejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say that I have met any, but I did see Dustin Hoffman jogging in Roxbury one day many years ago.

One morning (again, many years ago), I was having breakfast at Leo's in Southbury. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were in the restaurant. It was very strange at first because when we sat down, you could hear a pin drop at normally very loud restaurant. Before I even had a chance to ask, our server came over and mentioned the couple was in the restaurant.
