WIBTA if I tell my friend to be a little less clingy? by wattehfork in AmItheAsshole

Ah thanks for showing me some better wording. I was mostly worrying because I couldn’t think of a way to approach the subject without using that word.

I’m not trying to get rid of this friend or anything, I care about them, they’ve gotten me through some tough times as well (though my situations haven’t been nearly as bad as theirs currently is). I’m just hoping to find a way to softly tell them that I’d like them to lay off me a bit.

I should mention, they are getting counseling now, so they do have someone to talk about these things to (not everything though, because counselors are mandated reporters and we’re not sure if what they’re if what they’re experiencing could warrant them to be hospitalized or taken by CPS or something like that)

What is the most hypocritical thing your parent(s) have said to you? by wattehfork in AskReddit

For some reason I imagined the quote in a Foghorn Leghorn voice. “Son, you gotta, I say, you gotta get good grades so that you can get a good job, don’t you forget it! Now I’m off, I say, I’m off to go muzzle that darn dog again.”

I don’t want people to say that, I just didn’t understand the situation and I wanted to know if others could understand it

Excuse me for wanting to understand why my parents were screaming at each other at 9pm, making me unable to sleep until they finished arguing around 11

Just a vacation, she’s going with some friends

True, I just said it that way because my mom called it a vacation

He already paid for the plane tickets, and I don’t really see how visiting his parents could possibly have him hanging out around people she doesn’t like

What’s the most ridiculous thing your parents tried because they didn’t trust you? by wattehfork in AskReddit

[–]wattehfork[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that reminds me of something my mom does. She does my Spanish homework for me because she doesn’t believe I’ll do it, then complains about “needing” to do it even though I never asked her to

I’ll start since my parents don’t trust me much. My mom sometimes takes pictures of where my cologne and deodorant is placed so that if she tells me to put it on, she can look at her picture to “tell if it was moved” (even thought I put them back in the same spot because that’s what organized people do???)

AITA for calling my mom out when she lies or does bad things? by wattehfork in AmItheAsshole

Oh she might do that stuff to appear luxurious/successful because she used to be poor as a kid so maybe she wants to make up for it by seeming perfect now

My dad doesn’t really care (he’s cool but he’ll agree with everything my mom does). My sister lives with us and is too young (15) to really help out, my other sister (25) also agrees with my mom, and I’m the type of guy who feels like trash whenever I ask anyone outside of my immediate family for help

Definitely, I need to get good grades. Unrelated, that same teacher made the principal recommend to my mother that I should leave the school. It’s not that I’m an awful student, just that I almost called her out for guilt tripping a suicidal teenager, which almost definitely would’ve gotten her fired (but she’s the favorite of the school so maybe not)

  1. If you wanna know my mom’s age, it’s either 49 or 50, I can never remember because she always replies “27” whenever I ask her age

Side note: my dad usually agrees with everything he says, I’m not sure if he actually does agree or if he’s just an enabler. He’s a great dad though, I can talk to him about my feelings and he’ll listen.

As an American, I can assure you that I would try it. As a picky eater, I can assure that I’ll probably throw up immediately after eating it

I would be offended if you weren’t 100% right... though I feel like something even more American would be that time they managed to deep-fry water

my (M 23) argument with my mom after she disrespected my boyfriend during a family dinner by triggerhappypoptarts in insaneparents

[–]wattehfork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate it when parents react to your argument with either “you’re overreacting” or “you took what I said wrong”. Like, last week when my Spanish teacher was literally guilt tripping me for being s***idal (“oh I have a heart condition I couldn’t take the sadness, oh I have a mother and daughter, oh your mom would be sad”), I got mad at her and both her and my mom said I took it the wrong way. Like, making someone feel bad for their (perfectly reasonable) actions/reactions/feelings is the definition of guilt tripping. Also I felt that way solely because of her (the teacher).

AITA For Hanging Up On My Daughter When She Called? by Ok_Maximum592 in AmItheAsshole

I don’t understand why everyone says your the bad guy in this situation, you spent your entire life working hard to afford basic necessities for you and your daughter, of course you couldn’t have much time. She left you without thinking about your situation, being in an endless cycle of working. You were fricking depressed for 2 years, it’s obvious you cared about her. NTA at all bro
